Dyno Run....

My car on the dyno at Sin City Performance. It was a dyno day with the Vegas LSx club. Here is a video of the run.

The only clean run (where their wire didn't cause my torque to be unbelieveable high on runs 1 & 2) was 308rwhp and 324rwtq.

The car is a 6speed.

The following were added by SLP:
1. Power Steering Cooler
2. Hurst Shifter
3. Cat back

The mods I added were:
1. Free ram-air mod
2. SLP lid

Video:

Enjoy.

Another example that the horsepower rating GM gave these was total bs. My '00 SS dyno'd 303rwhp and 319rwtq 100% stock (not even free mods) around 12k miles. Just don't let 5th gen V6 owners know this -- they like to think they can take on 4th gens because of the power on paper

However, you don't need to mention the "Stuff SLP Added" as the cooler and exhaust were standard on all SS's of that vintage -- it's part of what made a SS a SS. The shifter came on most all LS1 cars, too (and it's not going to effect the dyno), and it wasn't added by SLP -- it was a GM option. If I'm not mistaken, the exhaust and cooler were also added in the factory by this time -- SLP just did the hood and spoiler.

Also, you might want to update your signature as you're not "bone stock" with the FRA and lid -- it's misleading.

I honestly do not know everything on ss's but my ss is the only ss in the club that I have seen to date that has the power steering cooler.

I do know for a fact that the hurst shifter is not the same optional shifter that gm had. 1 it is not "notchy" and 2 it is like my b&m ripper where the second to third shift is just push forward and it automatically moves the stick over to third.

Catback, no idea because most everyone I know has swapped theirs out. Kinda funny and embarrassing that the car was the most quiet car on the dyno.

My T/A, bone stock and neglected with a 11 year old filter and fuel injector cleaner dyno'd 303/318 @ 31K miles. I wouldn't doubt your car being able to put down 325+ with a good pair of headers on that exhaust. Give it the ability to breathe and a good tune, probably crack into 330 at the rears.

If you have any SLP options, then you'll have an additional sticker on your drivers door that states them. You should call SLP to verify your build number and options (if any).

Power steering cooler became standard in 2001.

SLP never had a shifter option. The only shifter to come on a 4th gen was the base shifter with the round knob, or the Hurst. That's it. If you have a different shifter than the one pictured below, then it's aftermarket.

This is a factory Hurst out of my 2002:

As for your exhaust, if it looks like my 2000 posted below (the tips; I know it's hard to see the muffler case), then it's just the base SS exhaust which comes standard.

There was an optional "dual/dual" for 335hp rating in 2001 (center mount exhaust was available mid-year in 2001). This would have been a Y2Y option.

Some good numbers for a Stock Car. I'm hoping to get some numbers in a few weeks for shits and giggles.

My exhaust tips/muffler size looks just like yours. It's definately louder than the stock exhaust on any other fbody that I've owned. I thought it had a catback on it because it is louder than stock but not crazy loud. I had them put it on a lift to check the car out I saw the muffler and it was pretty big and then saw the GM part number and you could say that I was a bit confused. LOL

I haven't taken the boot off the shifter but it must be an aftermarket shifter with the hurst knob. I had the stock stock shifter in my 98 TA and the other cars I test drove had the GM optional hurst. It is neither. This thing shifts more like my B&M Ripper than any of the stock or optional stock shifters.

Thanks for the info. I thought Dales SS was a 2002, but maybe its a 2000. I'm getting old and its tough to remember every detail in life. LOL. Dale's car does not have the power steering cooler and he thought I added one but I told him it came on the car from SLP that way. Who knows. I still think its pretty cool. hehehe.

Thanks for the information. When I get a chance to work on the car later, I'll check it out further.

Thanks! I wanted a base line so when I do start adding LT/OR-Y and tune it, I can see the power gains.

Sure thing! That's what we're here for -- to help each other out as we get old and miserable

Good idea, I didn't have the opportunity for that so I'll just get numbers for bolt ons/tune and go from there.

That was the reason I ponied up the money at our Dyno day a few months into owning the car; I had no idea when I'd be doing mods so when the chance came up I walked home with a data set to compare to with anything done to the car.

With her running 303 stock, and pulling how she does now via the 'butt dyno' I'd expect at least 310-315 now just off my catback (Rumblers are essentially a welded LM1s) alone and general 'cleaning up' of the car from it's neglect. Exhaust can get you so far but I also hear that going suspension even on a dyno will net more power to the ground due to gained efficiency.

Was also pretty cool to just plunk down a 20 and have him go in and adjust my ECU and delete CAGS (skip shift) on the fly.

By the way, what dyno were they using: Mustang or Dynojet?

Using a dynojet. Every run, my car made more power, but runs 1 and 3 had some really weird spikes in torque below 5200. Above 5200, the run was fine. I just didn't want to use the 1st and 3rd runs.

Run 1 was 306/793 <~ Diesel LOL
Run 2 was 308/324
Run 3 was 316/43x <~ LOL

My next mods are bilstein shocks (should ship out monday and be here by the weekend) and infinity speakers for the doors and kicker 6.5" subs for the sail panel area.
After that, not in any particular order, LCAs, Subframe connectors, Poly bushing for the torque arm, STB and a PHB or watts link (only if I win the lotto or something...lol).
Then its off to LT/ORY/Heads/Cam/Tune.
