It's one thing to be a stroker and another to be a real potential buyer. If you think the car might wow you enough to buy that day on a great deal, then you should test drive. If not, you shouldn't be test driving it.

I disagree. My purchase decisions tend to be a slow burn. Lots of reading and thinking and looking. I hardly ever buy a car the day I drive it. I go back home, talk to the wife and sleep on it. I do agree you should be serious about possibly buying it soon, but not necessarily the same day.

This isn't a Aveo or Cobalt, it's a brand new Camaro. This car is hot, people will want to come to the dealership to see it, and the less miles on it the better. If I was a dealer I would have said no as well....most would. They're trying to run a business, not a joyride factory. |

It's one thing to have to get the car out of the showroom, but if its outside and "available" they should have let you drive it. At least you were able to get the feel of the V6.

I have heard of dealers trying to keep cars for a while that have been ordered or already sold so they can "show it off". Screw that, if i sign the papers, I am leaving in the car, period. My '04 GTO was purchased when it was on the truck on the way to the dealer, I bought it before it ever got there. The call and tell me the car was in PDI and i could pick it up tomorow. I show up, every bastard in the building had been driving it around, it had 100 miles on it when I picked it up. I was so pissed, I almost didnt buy the car. I told them, up front, being this was the first GTO they got, I dont want anyone even sitting in it. Well, so much for that. I was told by a freind of mine that worked at the dealer the morons in the service department had been in the back lot doing burnouts in it the day before I picked it up. She told them that this car was already sold and the owner was most likely kick there asses if he found out who they are, needless to say, i never got names and shit. She got the manager and took the keys and hid them till i arrived to pick up the car. I got a discount and some free stuff. Paid less than $30k for the first GTO at that lot, sticker was like $33 or something. After that, I will never trust a dealer nor anyone working there ever again.

I really don't blame the dealer for not letting you take the cars out.
Not trying to bust balls here, but you actually came out & told him you were in the process of buying a house. The sent a red flag to the salesman and dealership. (You should have lied and said that you are comparing the SS to the SRT-8 Challenger.) lol!!!!

Hmm have to agree here. I am one who like to test and prod and poke anything I am going to buy. But TBH, I do not even accept the T-Drive unless I am serious about buying. I do not want to to waste their time or mines.
Being that the car is super new..it will be that way for a while I guess. A few months from now, they will be begging people to test drive the car. |
