Took a look under the beast this morning, and she looks bone dry. It has only been about a week and a half since they replaced my oil cooler, so i will continue to monitor it. Hopefully she stays leak free! Anyone else had this part replaced on their vehicle due to engine oil leak. Or are most of the cases the oil pan gasket? I ask just to make sure I shouldnt have gotten the gasket changed as well.

My cross member is cutout too. I was toying with the idea of making it bolt in as well. For the person asking what to cut it out with, I used a sawzall and metal cutting blade and had it out in about a minute.

I wonder how much side structural integrity is lost with it being bolt in? It doesn't support anything from the top and the engine cross member is just a few inches in front of it.

I found that some of my oil pan bolts were not that tight. I snugged them up an have not had a leak yet.

i got the metal from home depot, 1/4" thick 4' long 2" wide for $10. i used a gm gasket, my brother welded the plates on, then i tapped them into place and drilled the holes.

After 1 week in the shop I finally got my car back. Turns out it had a cracked oil cooler core at the lower oil port also oil pan gasket was leaking. Funny, the tech at my dealer called GM Technical assistance and was told that oil pan gaskets are not common for this engine.
Anyway I will be keeping an eye out for any leaks

Im going to bring this one back from the dead. I PMd the guy that posted the pictures, but noticed he hasnt logged in in about 6 months.

Anyone else who did this, did you have to temporarily support anything when you cut the cross member out?

Going to throw mine on the lift next week and do this.

Thanks
