I only drive with t/c off. I'm never comfortable with traction control/stabilitrack.

please do not encourage that kind of risky behavior on here !! Somebody might try it and actually spin their tires !!! And not be on a track !!! So Please keep that kinda of dangerous driving to yourself !

I wish I had a dollar for each time someone made this statement (or one similar.....) -- and then wrecked their car...........I could retire.

Accidents are exactly that: something unanticipated occurs without warning......

I've heard time and time again "...I'm a great driver..." and to that I respond: "So are many race car drivers -- but they still have accidents..."

I don't care who you are - no one is as good a driver as they think they are.....

We've had two Camaros wrecked in the past 24 hours (that we know about) on this site and both had T/C disabled..........hmmmmmmm.......

Now - let's assume for a minute that you are the world's greatest driver -

....would you agree that you hoped that bad drivers had stabilitrak engaged so that they may not slam into YOU when they 'lose control'???

I don't mean to be harsh - but I've been working on these cars at GM for many years - and it's simply stunning at the number of accidents that could have been prevented had the person only had the Stabilitrak "On" rather than "Off" --

It's a proven fact that us teenagers are awful human beings, can't drive, and don't deserve our cars.

That being said, I've got 7k miles on mine with no accidents, haven't killed anyone, have done no damage to the car, and have maintained it extremely well. Making payments with my father by working for him the next 5 summers.

Smite me.

(What I'm saying is, no need to dog on the kid. I bet he was just careless and turned TC/ST off [something I wouldn't do] and got sideways. There's more than enough of the older crowd that have done the same. I'm sure that kid is embarrassed as anything now, and won't be doing it again anytime soon.)

Hopefully he learned that TC/ST stays on while you're on the road.

it's actually kind of amusing hearing people say what great drivers they are and how well they can control their vehicles. kind of like going to a prison and asking the inmates if they're innocent.

As Freud said, "all men are great in their own minds"

It's really funny to me how much you guys trust TC. What did all you old farts do before cars had traction control?? TC on or off I can still obliterate the tires if I want to. Mine is on most of the time but either way accidents can still happen. You guys act the TC is a invisible force field or something.

Way back when I first got mine, I didn't know the car, yet.

Let me just say T/C was on, I made a stupid move and I'm sure it prevented disaster.

Speculation? Maybe, but it didn't take an accident for me to appreciate it and what it does.

Yes, the OP said probably, but let's look at the facts.

- happened in the early evening, and thanks to daylight savings time we know that it wasn't dark out yet

- roads were dry (which you can deduce from the kid and officer standing outside)

- car made it onto the sidewalk

- car was facing the wrong direction

- airbags deployed

- the driver was male

- the driver is probably under 22

all of these facts led me to the conclusion that the kid turned off traction control and then lost control of the vehicle.
