No interest is easy when they are jacking up the Retail! As stated before, find another dealer. I don't think the car/options you want are that hard to find. This goes way beyond a RS package IMHO. The 'package' you want is out there at a much better price-Goodluck! CALL BECKY at RODGER'S CHEVROLET!

The regular halogen lights look pretty fail on the car. There are options for aftermarket, that can give you more of a custom feel too. So even though I have the RS package on my SS, id say that if the dealer is way off on pricing for you, go aftermarket, or see if another dealer can go better on price.

Incorrect. All the lenses are the same. They just paint the housings black on the RS taillights. It's the black housings that give the lens a darker appearance.

On a 2011 SS convertible, you're not getting much with the RS package. Being a SS, it's already going to have 20" wheels and a rear spoiler. Being a convertible, it's not going to have roof ditch mouldings. That only leaves head lights, tail lights, and emblems. Of those 3 items, the only one that is significant, is the head lights. If the head lights are a deal breaker, you can install the GM lights with an aftermarket adapter harness. I have a 2010 non-RS, 2SS and I could give a hoot less about roof ditch mouldings, slightly darker tail lights, and red emblems, but I had to have the RS head lights. I installed mine with a OttoBody harness and they work great! And I still have actual fog lights, with an actual fog light switch. The only real hassle was having to remove the entire front fascia to install them, but I was doing a heritage grille, so it had to come off anyway. What part of KY are you in?

I'm on Lexington... Buying a non RS car would likely save me a little over a grand. How much would it cost to upgrade to Halos aftermarket? Thanks.

You aren't adding all of the options. I just optioned a Camaro on that link, and it has a sticker price of $54,245.00. By the way, I didn't select all of the options. I'm not saying it's worth that price, but that's what the sticker says.

I'd definitely prefer the RS package. I'm gonna try to contact the dealership today and see if I can talk to the sales manager. Yesterday, the salesman tried to convince me that if he sold the car under invoice that they wouldn't make any money which I know is false. He then went on to say that making $300 (I don't know where he got that number), wasn't worth the aggravation of selling the car. Needless to say, that left a bad taste in my mouth. Problem is, they are the only dealership within 1000 miles of me that has the car with the RS package without an MSRP over 50k.

I too prefer the RS package. Whether or not they come with the halos its still an RS which I would figure has a better resale value than a non-RS. I think of how much more rare it is to see an older SS/RS than just an SS. Either way still a great ride.

I paid around $800 for a pair of GM RS head lights and I think the OttoBody harness was around $160. That was a year ago, prices may have come down by now. I wanted the RS package too, but I got such a deal on my car, I couldn't turn it down. The car had everything else I wanted, 2SS, LS3/6M, and RJT, so I bought it, put the RS lights in, and never looked back. In the end, I like the way mine turned out. I got the RS lights with the Halos and I dont have that goofy deal with the fog lights. I'm happy! Which dealer are you working with? Hatfield, Sutherland, Shoop, Wilson, or Cummins? Go Cats!

I'm partial to the RS package. I just priced a NEW 2011 2SS Convertible on chevy.com and with the RS package as the only add-on MSRP's at $41,925 (manual transmission). What other accessories are you looking to add? There's no way you should be paying 50k for an '11 vert (or anywhere near that) unless you're opting for upgraded wheels, engine cover, cargo net, premium floor mats, footwell lighting, etc.

Perhaps you can wait a couple of months longer, '13's should be coming out in July / August and you should be able to get a better deal on a leftover '11' or even a '12.

HOWEVER, regardless from whom you buy, you DEFINITELY want to read up on the Convertible forum side about (potential) convertible top problems MY 11 and 12's have had. It's DEFINITELY something you'd be well-advised to read up on, study and examine in-person on the lot, when shopping for your convertible.

BTW, check out Beck D's inventory:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43480

A LOT of folks who've purchased from her dealership are VERY happy, according to feedback. Heck, just looking at her list, they have / had the following (apparently updated by Becky on 03/30/2012):

2012 2SS/RS
BLACK with BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR
Black Convertible Top
6spd Manual Transmission
RS Package
MSRP: $42850.00
GM PREFERRED PRICE: $41706.25

2012 2SS/RS
BLACK with INFERNO ORANGE INTERIOR
Black Convertible Top
Orange Rally Stripe
Automatic Transmission
RS Package
Interior Accent Trim Package
MSRP: $45005.00
GM PREFERRED PRICE: $43620.43

2012 2SS/RS
BLACK with BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR
Black Convertible Top
RS Package
6spd Manual Transmission
MSRP: $42850.00
GM PREFERRED PRICE: $41706.25

2012 2SS 45TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION
CARBON FLASH with BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR
Black Convertible Top
45th Anniversary Package
Hurst Short Throw Shifter
MSRP: $43310.00
GM PREFERRED PRICE: $42114.84

You've got to find the appropriate sources and study, study, study.

Please let us know how your search progresses.

Good luck!
