SS badging and RS whats up with it?

Couple things.

-Dont you think instead of the bowtie in the grill they should have put the SS emblem in the middle like old school. Im sure this will be an aftermarket option or maybe next year.

-The whole RS thing doesnt make sense, SS usually was better than RS, am i right or wrong old timers? So I dont understand the RS package. The only thing I can think of was a cool name and badge to sell the option. I am getting an SS and the RS package, but dont understand the name of it.

The RS package is an appearance package. It has always been this way. Nothing has changed. The current RS package keeps SS badges on SS models, but the color is red instead of silver. In other words, the SS is the more important badge.

The bowtie would be easy to remove for the SS.

Since this car is based on 1st generation cars, the RS option fits. Back then, the RS was a lighting option (hidden headlights, revised tail light lenses, relocated back-up lights) and could be ordered on any trim level Camaro. RS now is HID lights, halo rings, and darker tail light lenses. A lighting package, just like the original RS. In 1969, the only exterior emblem that said "Rally Sport" was on the front quarter panel, behind the wheels. The SS emblem took precedence everywhere else. On Non-SS cars, the RS emblem was used everywhere else.

Nope. You could get the RS on the Z28. It was just ground effects + spoiler extension, though.

That's not an RS... Those are regular halogen bulbs.

You also have to take into account each generation has had different SS/RS badging. This is one of the unique features of each generation.

and sadly no that IOM is no RS.

RS = Rally Sport (not indicitive of performance)

What in the vin is indicative of an RS package? On your build sheet it should have the code WRS. This is the RS package.

Position #5 Series
“E” for 1LS (1EE37)
“F” for 1LT (1EF37)
“?” for 1LT/RS
“H” for 2LT (1EH37)
“C” for 2LT/RS
“S” for 1SS (1ES37)
“?” for 1SS/RS
“T” for 2SS (1ET37)
“K” for 2SS/RS

My VIN Starts with - 2G1FK

So, according to the VIN decoding info from this site.. Yes it is a 2SS/RS
