Well, looking at my "real estate" to work with inside that shell, I can get the components necessary to fit, but it will involve a SMT design. Currently, it's thru-hole (prototype) so now need to decide on timeout.

I'm thinking four seconds.

Seriously though, how about be more careful with the key fob? Or how about parking your car far away so that it's out of range of the key fob so it won't open?

One guy on here made a bypass so the remote wouldn't work. Can't remember his username, maybe he'll chime in.

I never have a problem with my remote.

I've never had the trunk open on me. The worst part about the trunk is it's a pain in the ass to put golf clubs in it!

My suggestion is to open the key fob and "trim" the button overlay.

Pretty much what I mean is that inside that squishy part that has the trunk label on it is a little button that connects the circuit in the key fob. If you were to say remove "this option would make it so that you couldnt open with key fob at all" or trim it so that only really hard pressure can make the connection it would eliminate the problem.

What happens for me is that the trunk is definitely closed when I get in the car and start up and drive, then after about a tenth of a mile or two tenths, the warning light comes on. When I try to open the trunk at the grocery store, or back at home, it's usually very hard to get it to open using the key fob. I have to press several times, very hard with my thumbnail to get it to open. But when just driving, having not even attempted to press the key fob trunk button, it just opens by itself.

I strongly suspect there is a bug in the electronics, or maybe interference from garage door openers, or other wireless key fobs, or something like that.

One thing I know for sure is that it has nothing to do with pressing the key fob inadvertently. I wash the car with the key in my jeans, and it gets mashed a lot as I squat down and bend over, and I worry about it opening the trunk, or honking the horn, or something, because I can feel it smashed in my pocket. But that's never happened.

But it has happened to me even after shutting the trunk for a trip and making sure it's closed, on many occasions. Many times I have gotten everything packed, and the trunk is closed up solid for the trip, and shortly after leaving, the warning comes on. My wife thinks I'm a complete idiot, but I don't know what more I can do after closing and yanking on it to make sure its closed and locked properly.

Maybe I should just try not starting the car and see if that works. But that sort of negates the whole reason for having a camaro. I do know though that it never opens by itself when the engine is not running. I can mash the key fob all I want in the garage with the engine off and the trunk will not open unless I press very hard right in the middle of the trunk button.

This has never happened to me at all... For those of you having this issue, what do the dealers say about this? Couldn't this be a warranty claim?

Maybe so. I have an a6 and I have never accidentally popped the trunk open. I've seen so many threads on this and I kept thinking.. "wth? never happens to me. What are these guys doing wrong"

This sort of explains it. Good luck guys. I'd be just as frustrated if it were happening to me.
