Again, could be the LS3. But, this tells me^^that GM might have something up their sleeves for a Gen V...seeing as though we don't know much about them at ALL!!!

I don't usually look at this part of the site.......

There is some real misinformation in this thread.

This is exactly why I thought this "announcement" was strange. Having the LS3 wouldn't be forgetting everything we know about the engines. It has to be an engine that hasn't been heavily speculated (LS3, L76).

Bring on the Gen V!!!! (please)

What if 'forgetting everything you know' means accepting that a Camaro can have more power than a base Corvette or that you will get high tech things like a DOHC DI V6?

If they launch all new engines in this car, then there's no way it'll hit the price points that are competitive with the Mustang. Part of the reason the Corvette is so expensive is because it's a low volume car that uses more or less exclusive engines. After these engines have been out for a while, the price goes down.

I have yet to see someone explain how GM could take a car like the Camaro that's already up against a crap economy and a very difficult fuel market, launch a totally new generation of engines in said car, bring it to market under 30k for most models AND still sell enough of them to justify building the thing in the first place. We're lucky to be seeing this car AT ALL given the current condition of the market.

This isn't a matter of listening to "insiders" or contradicting Scott. It's just common sense.

Go ahead and quote this post for future reference. We'll all see in September. I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that you'll see a Gen V engine in the Camaro before the 2012 model year (IF it even happens then)

OK I think Fbodfather is great and I am SO glad he communicates with us.

MY Man!!!!

But, to be as objective as possible here. He really told us... nothing. Before this post we all agreed to forget everything we currently know... After this post we..... should forget everything we currently know.

On a streeeeeetch we can assume no LS3 based on his comment to Captain. EDIT: And, once again, the confirmation that the LS7 is out. Most of us already accepted this.

Tag,

You HAVE to be right. They are sitting on something big. Fbodfather has rarely been this tight lipped on a topic that has generated this much activity here..... Not even a NUH thing, except the quotes I posted earlier.

Hopefully it's a 500+hp supercharged something big.
