ZL1 DRL and Fog to LED conversion
I've searched and can't find out what lighting type to use to convert the DRLs and Fogs on a ZL1 to a better match for the HIDs? I don't want too blue of a color.

The fog light bulb is a H11. I got a set of Silverstars today (but not installed yet) that should match pretty close since I couldn't find a LED in the build style. Once I do find one I'll be making the switch. I've already got a plasma LED in the DRL and it looks great. The fogs will finish the look.
PS- here is a thread to get the LED DRL for your ZL1. It's the same P13W bulb as the RS DRL (I was able to reuse mine off my previous SS/RS). http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ghlight=plasma |

Very Easy. I got my LED H11 bulbs off ebay. The 6 watt. But they are not that bright.

I agree, it's pretty easy. There are three hex screws (T-15, I believe) that you will need to remove to gain access. It is exactly the same as the SS, but the inner fender is a little more rigid and you will physically have to hold it back while you install the lights.

If you're not good a feeling around then it helps to turn your wheels to one side to gain access to the fender well and remove the three torx screws. So you can see whats going on.

He is specifically asking about the ZL1. I relayed what I did on my own ZL1 last weekend, and compared it to the SS install (which you could install without unscrewing the fender liner). There is no opening to get your hand up there on the Z. Due to the aero panels underneath the car there is no opening. Take a look at the underside picutres posted and you'll see what I am talking about.

Thanks for the info. I thought I'd have to loosen a panel or two and haven't looked under the car yet.

You'll want to turn the wheels and go in through the fenderwell. You'll see three Torx screws right along the edge of the wheel well. If you want, I can take pictures tonight when I install my Silverstars and post the pics.

Thanks. One more ? I've been reading and members have posted that the light sockets have changed from 2011 to 2012 and that the P13W lights don't fit unless modified. You said yours transferred easily. Who did you purchase them from? AAC?

Yes, my DRL's were P13W plasma's that I purchased from AAC. They actually fit better on my ZL1 than the did on my SS. On my SS, one side didn't "click" lock securely but they fit perfect on my Z.

So, I installed the Silverstars and they are brighter than stock, but they aren't the hue of white I was hoping for.
Here's a pic; the stock are on the right, Silverstars are on the left. ![]() I'm going to leave them on, but will continue to look for a better match. I might end up going with HID fogs if I can find them in H11. I had HID fogs on my Corvette and it was exactly the right white. Unfortunately with HID's they will need a ballast and the could be harder to install on this. Here is the pic of the 3 T-20 torx screws you will have to remove to gain access to the lights. ![]() Here are the bulbs inside the fender liner. The top bulb is the DRL the bottom is the fog.

Look at V-LED.com they have some P13's and H11's that you can order either 5000K or 6000K, a lot cheaper than the other vendor on here. Seems like the one's with the most led's aren't as bright, and are too long.
