If you have the vinyl stripes, the best product I've found is Adams VRT. Make sure they're clean first (standard 2 bucket wash) then use the Adams block sponge and apply the product. I have found that their Detail Spray and Waterless Wash work to make the stripes look good in between VRT treatments.

There are other products out there (Todd from Autopia may have some other suggestions as well) but Adams VRT has been very consistent for me. I use it on everything that is Black on both of my Camaro exteriors.

One bucket contains your soap and water mix

The second bucket is a rinse bucket that contains pure water with a grit guard at the bottom (I also use a grit guard in my soap bucket)

After you wash a panel, dunk your wash mitt into the rinse bucket and thoroughly scrub the pad against the grit guard. This should remove any dirt that has accumulated in your wash mitt. This way you don't contaminate the soapy water with the dirt and grit you just picked up from washing the previous panel. It also gets your wash mitt "fresh" for the next panel.

Now that your wash mitt is clean you can go back to your soapy water and proceed to your next panel.

On my 97 Trans Am clay bar took the printed color off one of the OEM stickers on the rear end. The sticker was fine but the color had come clean off.

I would not clay bar along the edges because the risk is pretty good of slipping, etc. Clay bar is really for paint only. Heck, I'd be very careful around badges as well.
