We have our fingers crossed, we ordered the second time at a bigger dealership. If it gets cancelled again, we weren't meant to have it. My husband works at Pontiac/GMC trucks so our fingers are double crossed. They don't know anything yet, but he is the one who receives all of the fed ex and ups stuff.

The local Jeep Chrysler Dealer just got the word. The Dodge Lincoln Mercury Dealer across the street will get his franchise. He stated on the local news that it is effective in 60 days. What are those dealers going to do with all of their parts inventory among other things. I saw a Jeep dealer on the National news talking about his situation and agree that it is pretty bad when your business can be taken away after 20 or 30 years and you get nothing. His case was the same as our local dealer, his franchise was simply given to another Dealer for free no payment. Our local Pontiac,Buick, Caddy, GMC Dealer has already folded and these brands move over the the Chevy Dealer in town.

Things will be changing pretty fast going forward.

Sell it is all they can do, they won't be buying anything back because of bankruptcy.

Tune In

GM conference call 12:00 Eastern.

UPS to deliver the bad news to 1100 dealers today, with more to come, and around a 40% shrink in total dealers before it is over and done.

Ouch... Things are not looking so good atm. Many dealerships are planning on going to court about this. Not sure what difference it will make in the end though.

I wonder if/when there will be a published list like with Chrysler.

I think it's fair to let a day or two go by so the dealers that get the bad news today have a little time to collect themselves before getting swamped from all sides. However, in order to restore confidence in the dealers that are left, GM needs to get this information out there right away: which ones will be closed, and when.

I just hope GM doesn't try and keep the list and the timing secrect for as long as they can. I think that would hurt them. Who wants to order/buy a car if you have to worry whether the dealer could shut down the next day, in a week, month, etc.

Nice so my dealership sould be safe. . . Have to drive interstate for at least 15-20 minutes at 70mph before finding another one.

The Silver Lining...........

"GM spokeswoman Susan Garontakos said that the dealers receiving notice Friday are being told that their contracts will not be renewed in October 2010. Many of them are expected to close shop this year."

That should give you guys/gals that have your order in, plenty of time to take delivery....no?

Thats exactly what I was thinking. If in fact this does happen I'm canceling my order.
