if there is nobody in the other lane RT means nothing. 60' time will tell you if the guy is driving well. I would like to know the boost numbers as well I am assuming it is fairly low because of the 1.9L. One thing people have a hard time grasping I think is the engine internals are not as boost friendsly that is why you see the head cam work. A 4v ford is a completely differnt engine to set up. cams are expensive and the engine is forged. they just use a different blower (not really cheap) on the LSA with the hypereutectic pistons it seems like builders are adding a bit of boost but also upgrading the cam and heads. if you look at the money the heads and cams are $2500-3000. a 3.4L whipple is more than that. it is really apples and oranges to compare mods on these engines you just have to compare the ET's and dollars spent. Just for the record I like both platforms they just are not the same. people always put these wierd statems like well you didn't use the stock blower, or well you modified the heads and cams. they are both mods and they both cost money. Whiskey tango Foxtrot? what is the difference from a neutral perspective??????

I think some people are misunderstanding what 'boost' is and what it represents. Boost is nothing more than a measure of resistance, restriction and capacity. It lets you know how efficiently you're utilizing the capacity of the blower given how fast its being spun and how much the exhaust is restricting. 19psi of boost on the 1.9 is telling you that they are efficiently using the full capacity and displacement of the blower. 19psi on a larger blower, like the 3.4, would indicate they're less than 100% capacity. The LSA, and the LS9 for that matter, have already proven to be near full efficiency at 18-19psi. All that's saying is that the full displacement capacity of the blower is being utilized. So talking boost numbers doesn't mean a thing because it will change depending on how fast the blower is being spun, what heads are used and how restrictive the exhaust is. Boost is just a number to give an indication of how well the blower is being utilized. Its a tool just like dyno numbers.
On another note...the LSA and LS9 internals ARE boost friendly and have been designed as such. The head/cam work is to exploit 100% of the 1.9L blower capacity...and the engine displacement of course. HPE has been building 750+hp LSA's and LS9's for several years now without making any changes to the factory short-block and only minor changes to the blower such as intake porting and rpm's. The blower displacement remains the same. |

use you same pricipals you used to calculate that this is BS without reading all the information and it will probably give you ballpark on HP at the time of the run. bottom line the car ran 9.84 with those mods, race gas, agressive track tune.

4295 lbs raceweight and 142 mph calculates out to approximately 960 BHP, or somewhere in the neighborhood of 850-875 RWHP.
They definately had it on KILL at the track! |
