Offers on my 2010 2ss rs with 24400 have been between 25 and 27k. I would wash on a trade in. Seems bow is the time to sell and by 2013 I expect the values would drop.

carmax.com has used 2011 v6 camaros for as much, if not more, than the cars cost brand new. for example, there is a completely base model, no upgrades at all, 2011 camaro LS, manual transmission with 26k miles and nearly bald rear tires selling for $24,995 on carmax right now. that car is identical to the brand new camaro i paid 24k for last month and it actually costs more. even the 2010s are selling for only 1-4k less than they were new, depending on the amount of miles.

i have also seen a 2012 base model camaro at my local honda dealership for $26k and it has about 8k miles on it. i was told the owner got $22,500 for it on trade-in.

so i guess our beautiful cars hold their values better than anything else on the market? i have only seen something like this once before and that was when hybrid cars really became popular and people were paying new prices for used hybrids......are the camaros the new hybrids when it comes to holding their value???
Hate to tell you this, but I feel obligated bc I work at a dealership.

Selling price and trading price on Challengers, Camaros, and Mustangs are oceans apart. Yes, Carmax sells LS 2011 Camaros with 20k miles for $24k. They also offered $24k for my 2012 LT/RS with 500 miles on it...which they would likely sell for $30k.

Just bc they sell it high, doesn't mean they aren't buying VERY low.

Carmax is not a place I would do business with anyway. 6 bad cars later and I will NEVER shop there again.

There are a LOT of not only stupid people who buy cars, but smart people who don't understand finance and/or aren't very good at negotiating a sale.

I've bought plenty of used cars from dealerships before. They usually have an advertised price. And then there's an "internet" price. Sometimes a "sale" price, or "here, come in and test drive this POS and receive $500 off!" coupons. Bullshit. All of it. I'd walk in and offer them trade-low retail on that car, and if they weren't willing to come close to it or work with me, no hard feelings, but also no deal. Money talks and I usually already have cash and/or my own financing lined up so they know I'm ready to pay, today, on that car. That's also the difference between walking into a dealership with the exact car you want to buy in mind, and walking in and asking to be sold any car. Know what the car you want is worth and pay nothing more.

Carmax doesn't care if you have no down or stroke a check....no haggle means exactly that. Either you pay asking price, or the next guy will. That's how they roll.

I wonder what I'd get for a 2012 1LT trade in for a 2SS/RS? I'm sure raped would be an adjective someplace. lol

Can't hurt to check. I was just curious last week to see what I would get on trading in my 2010 LT RS w/ 21000 miles.

On a whim, stopped by the dealership after work and they offered $22,000 and long story short, I drove away in a 2011 2SS RS dealer demo w/ 6500 miles for just $3 more a month.

Same finance term length of 72 months except on the new car they had a 0% finance charge. Nothing down (besides the $3000 I made on the trade in).

The only other thing was I had financed the original car with an extended warrant and I did not pick that up for the new 2SS. I think that had added around $20/month on the original cars monthly payment. A sacrafice that I was happy to make.

damn. $700 monthly payments are crazy. Heck, mine are $475 and I think that's too high. But then again, I did put down $15K on my '10 SS so that helped a ton.

Took my 2010 SS with 2RS and auto with 8k miles to Carmax Thursday and they offered me 26k. Car listed for apprx. 37k when new. I don't consider that holding it's resale value very well.

Car has been out for over 3 years now. That's 11k drop from MSRP for a car that is almost 3 model years old. Not that bad really.
