Thank you Deki. You allow me to keep faith that there are indeed intelligent mustang owners out there. Oddly enough, friend of mine just traded a g37 coupe that was having front hub issues irony? Lol

I have a feeling that whether or not I took the car to the track or not that the car would eventually have given me trouble. I'm not happy to see it go but I am glad its gone.

As for the noise, if you wanna know so bad, track down the new owner and ask them how loud it is. I bet they didn't like the noise either. And I'm willing to bet they have had the trans replaced.

Goodness it's not like transmission issues with the 5.0, Boss, and 11/12 GT500s are any big secret. Face the facts Ford could have done a much better job with these transmissions. Not saying Chevy is any better, my factory clutch lasted 1-pass at the track post mods.

And it's not just Ford. Range Rover had issues with the MT82 in their vehicles too. Mine took a dump at 900 miles, during my "break in" period...or the period of time where I did not beat the hell out of my car. It's been fine since. The way I look at it is, I got a really big apple, and the initial bite of it wasn't too tasty, but after that it only got better lol

You realize the GT500 has the same transmission as the Camaro SS does, don't you?

I think he's referring to the MT82 trans issues in the Boss and the GT, and the 1 to 2 shift in the Tremec in the GT500. I think that Jamal (or whatever that guy's name is) addressed that in one of the interviews and said they revised the syncros for the 2013 to get rid of that issue.

LOL I just found this thread as I was looking for what people thought about recent reviews on the new Mustang. However I am laughing at this epic thread, I couldn't get passed the 1st 3 pages before commenting.

Both cars are fast at the track. Yes a lot of racers lie their rear's off about what bolt-ons they have etc. At the end of the day, you're gonna lose races to a car you may feel you shouldn't. It happens.

Each car has it's positives and negatives. Me personally I have NEVER been a fan of Ford products. I'm not gonna sit here and bash the Mustang. It's a matter of choice and personal taste.

I like my SS, don't love it, but like it. If it were up to me I would take the weight of a Mustang, reliability of a Camaro and looks of the Challenger as my ultimate muscle car.

You want to go faster... put more $$$$$ into the car and maybe hire someone to drive it down the track for you. Sometimes its driver error more than anything else.

So I got this friend who has a new 5.0, manual and with witnesses ran a 12.4 something with just a shifter, x-pipe and some slicks. C'mon man, thats pretty damn good and I believe it but with my mods and slicks I wouldn't think I'm putting that kinda power down, hes basically stock with slicks. Wow!

With slicks, there is no reason an SS wouldn't be able to run that. While I haven't seen too many Camaros at my local track, the ones that I have seen have been running mostly in the 13s, even modified ones. What broke the mold was 1 stock 2011 1SS I've seen that ran a 12.8x@112 stock, down to the tire. I ran a 12.52 with a Ford Racing tune (very conservative) and GT500 mufflers (I don't know if these do anything), but I am also running a 275 series tires. It's not DR or a slick, but that extra 20mm of contact patch does help off the line a bit.

Yeah, there's no reason why an LS3 M6 Camaro couldn't run 12.4s with slicks and a skilled driver behind the wheel.
