both folks said above that the pix posted were 1SS... mirrors are different...

maybe they just have a "grab bag" O'mirrors on the assy line!

please note that this is the only feature that I dislike about my car... and I HATE it (the mirror).

I have GOT to find something different... even if i take a hacksaw to the backside so i can shove it up higher. (there is a plastic cover coming down from the roof that is in the way)

LDGn63, I don't have my 1SS/RS yet, but I know from what I saw (or couldn't see) in the dealers 2LT/RS, that the mirror is the main negative from my standpoint. It does sit too low, and I know I'm going to want to do something about it when I get my Camaro. As far as the difference between the two mirrors, they look like they're the same except for that little bit on either side of the buttons that have been shaved off, since it's the non-dimming mirror. It looks like it'll be a little bit better, but more than likely not enough. As I believe you stated somewhere else, I also see it as a safety issue! I'm not an automotive engineer, nor am I a car designer, but I honestly can't figure out the logic behind setting it as low as they have?! If you figure out something before I do, please let me know how you solved the problem?

What I don't understand is why so much black over the mirror on the glass? Can that be removed??

Oh, I absolutely agree with you on that! Honestly, I don't know what purpose it serves? I want that off as well.

well, i didnt get a picture but i DID measure the depth... 3 5/8" top to bottom.
I think the thickness (front to back) may cotribute to not being able to get it higher.
I PROMISE i will take some good pix of what I have and any solution I can find.

i may also stop by my local dealer once a week to see which car (v6) they get and compare...

BTW... on the black stuff behind the mirror.... i just had my visor tinted to line up with it and is is not as noticable outside the car... i dont really see it inside because of the big honkin MIRROR! ;-)

check the diagram on the back of the lid. usually tells you what they are for.

hopefully the 1LT and 1SS all have the smaller mirrors and I can order one.

would you mind snapping a pic from the side to show thickness?
and maybe measure the face top to bottom?
