There it is! All the same though - a 400$ drop I'll take for any reason any day haha

When I turned 25 my insurance dropped about $20/month. My insurance agent flat out told me that it was because I turned 25. Might depend on the company but it definitely isn't always myth.

I'm 24 and I recently traded up from a 2008 4 cylinder Malibu LT to a 2012 Camaro 1SS. My insurance went up by a grand total of 4 dollars (Canadian) per month.

It might be worth mentioning that I have zero accidents and zero speeding tickets in the last 5 years.

What I'm currently paying for my 2006 Mazda6: $1,048 per year
Camaro 2LT V6: $1,150 per year
Camaro 2SS V8: $1,068 per year

...... Both the agent and I were baffled as to why the V8 would cost me less in insurance per year. Both have the same exact insurance coverage and both include vehicle replacement cost. Any reason this could be? Either way, I'm not complaining. Ha. She said she even put the V8 as a high performance vehicle which she claimed is the "worst case scenario" meaning the highest cost. Any insight on why this is?

Bait and switch ?Or he thinks that you will store the car for like 6 months out of the year ?

I went from a 4 cylinder 2011 Sonata Limited (don't ask!) to the SS. Insurance went up $8. Go figure.

Not necessarily incorrect... I saved absolutely nothing when I turned 25, I'm now 27, and have had a clean record for about 6 or 7 years now. Although my insurance is dirt cheap compared to almost everyone else I see on there...

I don't recall what I was paying for the 07 WRX STi when I traded it in for the Camaro, but I do remember that the insurance premium did go down...

I know my agent said there are many factors involved including theft rate, demographics etc. I was shocked when I received the bill for the SS, I was expecting at least a $200 year increase. I mean, a family Hyundai to a race car! Lol

Its all statistics. I have a terrible driving record, worst than anyone here and my 21 year old wife was more expensive to insure then I was...lol. I pay $1150 a year for my 2SS and my tahoe. My agent told me drivers under 25 are statically more dangerous then someone with multiple DUI's. Try and rent a car under 25...lol.

Insurance rates also depend on location. Here in Houston, TX we bounce between the highest and second highest rates because of stolen vehicles.(Taken down to Mexico or stripped). The Insurance Actuary's have it all figured out.
