I would like Chevy or someone else to offer a reasonable upgrade to lets say 665 HP (just enough to piss off the Ford Faithful) were we can have a warrenty. Magnuson sounds like they might offer a solution.

Mods: exhaust commander, black stop light bezels, KN air filter. I guess that's about it, without voiding the warranty.
People were talking about lowering it. You have to be careful, the front lip sits at about 7" now, if you lower it more you might scrape speed bumps or the road(unless it's perfect) |

I just feel like the urge to pulley, cai, tune will be too great. plus it would be nice to be able to beat Base vetts and hang with z06's and Gt500's.
from what I have seen so far I could short shift grandma drive my Z06 and get around what people are doing in these cars. Be nice to get it to the point were drive has to do there part. then again if my car slows down my penis shrinks. then that makes my wife mad and she beats me.

I looked at a berger Camaro over a year ago was told that the car was covered by Magnuson . SO I called Magnuson to see what was covered! I was told IF REPEAT If the Damage to the Drive Train was do to there Supercharger It would be covered. AS LONG THE CAR HAD STOCK WHEELS AND TIRES..... I ask him about the breger camaros having custom wheels and TIRES and again was told stock wheels and tires PERIOD.I questioned if some thing were to break in the rearend would that be covered and AGAIN IF IT were DEEMED that it was caused BY our supercharger it would be covered. Made a call back to berger to talk to salesman about this issue and would not comment said it has warranty though Magnuson. Just didnt want to chance spending that amount to find out I had just purchased a car which basicly had no warranty. Bought 2012 ZL1 instead! Just my 2cents! warranty is more for the blower I think its only 200 bucks

If I had one, at first I was thinking no. Then I saw Hennessy's 700HP ZL1 video...then Holy Smokes I'd do that in a heartbeat.

So here's a thought. Isn't a warranty supposed to cover defects or design flaws? So GM builds the car with a certain compromise to be able to mass produce it and make it last through the warranty period with minimal issues. It's a financial thing. Some things that could be done to the car will NOT because it will be too expensive or put the warranty at risk. So GM compromises. The result is a great car that will last a long time.
Now that we have it, we have to do our own compromise. If we want to address the compromises GM made, spend some money, and get some added performance out of it, we take some risk. Ideally we hope to improve on the car without shortening the life of it. But in reality some things will shorten the life. You spin the supercharger faster, or you put taller gears in the rear for example, you will rotate components more with every mile or every engine rotation vs the factory design. Why should GM warranty a failure of one of these stressed components after changes like this? I'm assuming my mods will take miles off of the total life of the car but I just have to accept that and plan that future rebuild as part of reality. The only thing that is a bummer is there may actually be a defect that may present itself at say 30k miles and with mods it presents itself at 20k instead. Is it now right for the warranty to be denied because of the mods? Who knows, but that's the real risk of modding. I'm not going to store and pamper my ZL1 like its collectible. I'm going to mod it, enjoy it, and by the time it's 40 years old it will not be a shining original example of a 2012 ZL1 but I will have some great memories of fun times in it! ![]() Thanks Chevy! |
