Yesterday just proved what I knew all along with the last car. That dealership is incompetent from the salesman through the service manager. I had to order my car since the salesman didn't know how. Seriously, I got to put in all the options etc into the ordering system. Then, I know what the hell is going on more with the tops than the service manager. He said now be sure to anchor my cover for the top. Idiot, I don't have one. This is the same guy that said I put my top down wet on the old car and that is why I have rub marks and now says the new one is from dirt. Why the hell they do not want to do warranty work is beyond me. I will find a new competent dealer sometime this summer. Anyone know of any in the Twin Cities or a contact for me?

My dealer is Polar Chev in White Bear Lake. I have never had any issues with them.

Update. After having the dealer clean and brush out the top along with adjusting the tension a bit, and me washing the hell out of it after I got it home. The rub mark is no longer there. Not to say it will not come back. But as of this moment beside the wrinkles behind the rear windows, the top is holding up. Ask me in August how it is doing.

Thanks. So far so good knock on wood. I have noticed with this top the dirt seems to show the imperfections more and to the eye may look like a rub mark. Just an FYI that I would wash the top before bringing it in to get checked on.

I hope you continue to remain problem free with this one... I'll keep you posted on mine, I'm going in to talk to my sales guy this afternoon. He's pretty sure I should be able to order up the 13...

I have not seen another manufacturer's convertible top flap around in the breeze going down the highway like the Camaro top does when it's uncovered. And I know you can argue that Chevy doesn't include the cover with every trim level so therefore it isn't needed but to me that's an awfully big assumption. Until Chevy or GM officially say it's not needed, I personally consider it a design flaw not to include one with every trim level given the amount of movement the top exhibits when left uncovered.
I tend to agree with this assessment. I'm not saying it is the cause of the rub marks but watching American flags turn to shreds on a flag pole make me believe that a flopping top in the cool highway breeze is not a good thing and will only aggravate the situation. I drive with the top down and cover on.

While I agree with your reasoning on the top rubbing, I fully disagree that we should accept this faulty design and have to put the tonneau cover on everytime we drop the top. That's just plain rediculous for a modern day convertible. For the price we pay, these things should be push button simple.

You have a good point. Being a first time vert owner, i assumed all soft tops were somewhat loose when down.

Since my problems arose,(I am also a 1st time vert owner) I have been looking at other verts of all makes when I see them. Some have rub marks, but I have not seen any verts that flap around in the wind as much as the camaro does.
