Chevy painted themselves into a corner with that statement, if it was in fact stated as such. Any experienced drag racer would have raised an eyebrow to this statement. At 4100+ lbs, add a few gallons of fuel and a 180 lbs driver, we're talking 4300-4400 lbs of mass to accelerate. 580 crank HP/TQ is going to have a VERY difficult time moving that much mass from a dead stop in sub 12 second traps. I'm sure we will hear of a few that get there when the weather improves and drag radials are added. As a daily occurence.....I wouldn't have bet on it. |

114-115 traps in the zl1 are garbage. The thing should be trapping 4-5mph faster. . . I wonder if there is some kind of break in tune or something

I am open to the VERY remote possibility that the time was accomplished, only since we have documented and recorded times of other cars almost reaching that 60' number bone stock on 1st gen run flat GY's, but in C6 Z06 Corvettes..... 1~~~~ 10.981 128.90 1.77 Jamie Furman~ 2006 2~~~~ 11.025 127.25 1.70 Ranger ~~~~~ 2006 3~~~~ 11.177 127.08 1.79 walterm32~~~ 2008 4~~~~ 11.242 122.38 1.68 Dr.Ron ~~~~~ 2006 5~~~~ 11.311 122.89 1.80 BLU-BY-U ~~~ 2006 |

I have no issues with it in a Corvette, the right track, the right day and the right driver...
I do have serious issues in the vehicle they're claiming they did it in... The word is it was either on DRs (that were shown in the video) or it was a heavily treated track with enough sticky to pull the soles clear off your shoes.. Either way, nothing remotely close to anything any of us would ever see .. and.. technically, if you want to jack around with "stickiness" of a surface to that extent, then a lot of cars have the potential to get great 60' times.. |

Agreed with 580hp and 550 lbs of tq it should be atleast in the 117-118 mph range. If there was something backed off in the programming I am sure one of the aftermarket tuners would have discovered it by now.
