I use the same Valvoline quick change I have for many years with many cars.
I'm 15 feet from my car and watch them open the bottles and pour in the full synthetic. If i can't see it, I don't believe it.

OP, my advice is to do what makes you feel comfortable. If a dealership is where you want to have your car serviced, then do it there. Whether you buy your own oil and pay for their labor services or get the whole thing, soup to nuts, from them...in the end, it's what makes you comfortable that counts. If quick lubes are your thing, have at them. I don't personally trust them and would take my car to my dealer without hesitation. |

I personally DIY......I have been doing my maintance, like oil changes myself for over 30 years.....it has nothing to do with my not trusting the dealership, as I know a nmumber of people that work there....I'd just rather do it myself.
NOW..........a couple of folks here mentioned that they don't have the means of disposing of the oil......so just so ya know.....you can take your used oil to ANY Wal-Mart FREE of charge.

I always trust the dealer for oil changes and warranty work. Now after saying that, I like to save a buck or two, and Jiffy Lube costs $56 to the dealers $40. And as stated above, there is a paper trail for issues if they ever arise.

That's excellent that your dealership was able to do this quickly for you! If you would like me to express any praise to your dealership, please feel free to contact me with any details. I am sure they would love the feedback! Brandon Chevrolet Customer Service

Do all myself. Take used oil to pepboys or the ripoff jiffy lube on the corner. I pay them $1 a jug to dispose of it.

My main thing isnt trusting the dealer to put premimum in it, which I dont trust 100%, I dont trust them not to scratch my car, inside or out.
I know 100% that I will not mess up an oil change, they can mess up the oil (amount/grade), the filter, scratching something, giving me a complimentary car wash with swirls on accident, etc |

I Was supposed to get the first oil change for free, but I was betting that they wouldn't use Mobil 1, and that's what I wanted. Talked a friend into helping me change it myself, because the cost is much higher to get someone else to do it. Bad enough it's 8 quarts! It was REALLY easy (never done my own oil, but have done several smaller projects), and you can bet I will be doing my own from now on, and my wife's car, too. Ramps are easier, but jack and stands will work, too. Disposal is easy, just take it to any auto parts store. And buy one of these:

Anyone who has changed their own oil even once can show you how to do a C5. Easiest and cleanest oil change I have ever done. Less that 10 minutes, start to finish. |

I don't let the chick that answers the phone at my dentist's office give me Novocaine shots, or drill my teeth.
Sure, the oil change techs at the dealer aren't the highest level techs, but better they change it than someone that may have just walked in off the streets at a quick change place. As for TSB's, the dealer will check for any IF you have an issue. There are hundreds of TSB's. They don't pull EVERY TSB on every car. So, that thought doesn't hold water. But if the dealer screws up somehow, much better paper trail. |
