There is a photo of the 1LE at a car show with a large plaque that lists the mods. One of them is MRC. So maybe it had it at one point.

Good point, but I wished that the journalist would have said this as part of his conclusion rather than let us infer it. The video sounded like Randy said one thing, and the journalist goes and concludes something completely different.

Sometimes it sucks living in a different time zone. I wake up this morning and there is already 4 pages of responses today after the video release. Now I have to read all of them to see all the comments. Hope there is not too much silliness.

Road course the gt500 needs mods to keep up. 1/4 mile the zl1 needs mods to keep up.

And we're back to the endless mod loop equation.
And it's easy to say 'JUST a brake upgrade' but we're talking about some money here on an already more expensive car.

On the street, in stock form if I saw a Shelby and a ZL1 line up I'll put my money on the Shelby all day long. (drivers being equal of course)

Chris said it well. If there were no Camaro I'd take that Shelby in a heartbeat. But I'm a Camaro guy to the core. Always have been. I do have an unbiased and objective realization though.

What options did the Shelby have that made the price go up?

(can't believe they don't offer brakes)

Not true ... Ford announced their numbers the same day GM announced PRICING and ORDERING information. Their numbers were released well before Ford released their numbers.

IMO the Shelby wouldn't have the numbers it has if it weren't for the ZL1.

Hmmm.....I don't remember it that way, but I could certainly be wrong.

And despite Ford's claim otherwise, I wouldn't be suprised if the ZL1 didn't at least have SOME bearing on how high Ford was going to take the GT500's HP....

The ZL1 was first introduced in Feb. 2011 at the Chicago Auto Show. The actual numbers weren't confirmed at that time, only that it had the LSA engine from the CTS-V. Ordering was released next in Sept 2011 followed by the pricing in Nov 2011. The certified numbers were released sometime in Oct I believe.

I was waiting for it as well... But, you're also a respected member of the community, so maybe those that would have commented refrained because of that?

Simply KNOWING that GM was building the ZL1 is, by default, a reason to up their game. Both cars should be happy the other exists. At least both car enthusiasts.

I hope I've earned that if it's true. I just give credit where it's due.

Just my guess -- may not be correct... I think plenty around here have seen enough of your posts to know you weren't trying to incite anything and were in fact just stating your unbiased thoughts on what is clearly an easily excitable topic.

No, I don't own either. And haven't even driven either.

But it sounds like you put some brakes on the Shelby and it's the superior car for racing all the way around. And kills the Camaro in the 1320. The Camaro being the 'easier' to drive.

Kinda surprising to me but it is what it is. What happened to the VASTLY superior suspension? Negated by the extra weight?

Almost follows the auto vs stick debate. The 'easier' to drive vs the 'funner' to drive. Gotta be a better driver to drive the Shelby.

Until I drive both that's all I can surmise.
the fact it made up ground in ever sequence with a turn leads me to believe the suspension is supperior.

once the track straitens out though 82hp is 82hp.

if the camaro's suspension was not superior this would have been a 2-3 second desctrution.

I think one could argue the TP/PP car is more car. it is 5.5k more in my case though. so is it worth the 5.5k?
