jrpxxii, you guys on the bikes are crazy!!! LOL! You more guts than I do for sure.
The weight is an issue with any car, and weight transfer just as important. every 100# is a tenth in the 1/4 mile on average until you get down into the 2,000# range. Yes, were proud of the girls.....growing up they were planning the next race instead of hanging out at the mall getting into trouble. They were doing all maintance on the cars and soon swapping motors/trans/etc. They used to jump in the race rig (longer than a avg semi rig) and go off in the summer for 1-2 months traveling from race to race by themselves much of the time. They would drive into a track in the big rig and get out and set up and the guys would gather around wondering where the men were...."you drive that big rig?", etc. They learned alot from some of the best that raced for us over the years as well so their training came from world champs and most the drivers you see on ESPN are personal friends of all now so it has helpped them when needed, expecially the Coughlin family. And the lifetime of this is alot of what we bring to our customers and I think most dont realize all our background. Back to drag racing in general, anyone that needs tips, suggestions, technique help, etc. let me know and I'm always willing to share. And those testing & tuning.....start running brackets and make some $$ tp pay for your hobby. Scrmng has the skill, vehicle, and passion so we need to get him out there running the big$ footbrake races. Many are $5-10-50K plus to win. Race against the best and you learn quickly. Stay in T&T and its fun, but difficult to hone your skills. The nice thing about bracket racing is it does not matter if you run 15 seconds or 9 seconds...it is an even playing field coming down to you the driver. from staging exactley the same way every time, finding your spot on the tree, to determining what to dial and playing the stripe. |

Hey I like where this thread is going, first HRD_WRK great post, thats a very similar plan plan that I'm going with, making changes each winter till I get the car where I want it. So far I've got the headers, intake, tune, trailing arms toe rods,1 pc driveshaft,1400hp axles,3.91 gear, and the trans rebuilt. My best before the gear was 12.508 and after the gear I was hoping to get down to the 12.3xx range, but the DA when I went back was like 3000 and the best I could get out of it that day was 12.70. This winter I plan on converting the trans to an auto 4L80E, doing a cam package install, and changing the rear end, I plan on keeping this car for good so I will be taking my time building it and enjoying it at the track, which brings me to my second thought. John, congratulations on those trophys you've won there, but I'm coming looking for you bud...LOL, I'm planning on being out there this Sunday if it stays 90 or below, I just can't take the heat when it gets hotter than that. So hopefully I'll see you out there on Sunday so we can catch up on the BS.

My 2010 is not the heaviest vehicle I've ever raced but it's the second heaviest.
![]() My now-sold 2006 TBSS 1SS RWD was heavier. I did get that tank to run 13.84 stock and 13.73 with a cold air. I got my last 4th gen down to 3300 raceweight with a stock k-member and front end. Full weight raceweights for the 4th gens ranged from 3590 to 3800. I haven't weighed my car but I'll assume somewhere around 4150 with me in it (I'm 200). I'd like to get to 3800 raceweight, so at some point I'll play with skinnies. My 2nd 4th gen (this one got the most changes over 10 years) ~2000 ![]() 2002? 28's in back, in between hoods: ![]() 28W, YSi blower: ![]() ![]() --------------- ![]() as bought, without me (previous owner had gutted it) ![]() ![]() ![]() 10.008@133, 1.38, then drove it home 45 miles: ![]()

John, I admired that car for years!!!
Anyway, if quicker ET's are the goals our stall converters will knock .5-.7 sec off your times with nothing else (traction limited of course). |

Went to the track for the first time last weekend. It was awesome! DA was around 2900 and I managed to run 13.02 @ 109. Like everyone else said, it's been so hot and humid. I want to go back, but I figure it's pointless until we get some better temps. That, and I don't want to burn out my P-zeros all at once. I made 14 passes the other night, and did almost as many burnouts
![]() Weighed my car the other day, too. It was 3880 lbs with about 1/4 tank of gas and no driver.

I ran 13.1 @ 109mph, all bone stock 2012 2SS LS3 M6 just last week? Only had 3000km's on the car, lol. DA was 2200 that day and track temps were over 100* with the humidity.
Im hoping for high 12's in better air

I went to the track last friday night for TnT and had a blast! After my first pass they tried to shut me down and said I had to have roll cage, and I said but I have a roll cage and they said ohh, but you need a fire suit, and I said hold on and went and got one out of the race trailer, then they said ok your good.
I beat four mustangs like they are stepchilds, LOL. Then a 2003 Mustang pulled up in staging beside me, then he got of the car and ask the staff guy in staging to please not make him run against me, the guy laughed and said ok, so he sent me through the tunnel by myself and put him up against a import. I just looked over and did this whats up? Don't be scared.

I just want something to help launch the car and get the 60' times down a little but still be able to let the wife drive the car. I was debating converter or gears as my next mod but i'm thinking gears wont get me 5 tenths off my 1/4 times...lol.I do have a set of drag radials on 18" wheels to help it hook. The car will always be na but thinking a cam install would be nice this winter...pm me your thoughts and a price on the stall so I can get this installed before fall weather gets here....thanks,Quick.
