Some questions I would ask before I agreed on anything:

If it gets repaired, will the damage show up on a carfax report? In other words, down the line when you go to trade it in or sell it, will it affect the price you get on the car?

I'd also be looking for comps. Bottom line, the reality of it is they would probably find someone to take it off their hands, so I doubt you would get significant money taken off the car. Instead, I'd be looking for free oils changes, perhaps some parts from the accessories shop, etc.

I never imagined so many cars could be damaged during transport. You think if you see a new car on the lot that there is no chance it has had a problem Can they sell this as new?

I would suggest not to buy it. If you are gonna spend money on a new car, it should really be new. Even if the repair was perfect I would always be able to see a defect in paint color or panel surface, even if just in my mind!

Completely agree. When a vehicle is damaged during shipping the dealership has absolutely no control over it so don't expect them to take a major loss on the vehicle because of it. If you want to ask for something from GM then go for it, but again it isn't the dealerships fault.

If I was you I would allow the dealership to fix all the damage, and accept the vehicle pending an inspection by yourself of the repairs.

It shouldn't be that many miles.. 10-15 tops..

If you do ask for a new one, they should bump you up to priority number 1 and it might take you a month or so to get a new one with no problems.. Just be on top of things and make sure it arrives in tip top shape once more.. I know I will be doing the same..

You do realize that that kind of damage could happen in a mall parking lot. So if you go ahead to "throw" this one back who's to say a week after you get your new one some butt head doesn't do the same thing to your car.

Then what?

Emotions are high but take a chill, talk calmly to your dealer and find out who will do the repair. Most reputable collision repair facilities offer a "lifetime" warranty on their work which should ease your mind some.

Good luck.

This is a brand new car I am buying for over $30,000 and not a used car that has been into an accident and been repaired with Bondo and a re-paint.. This is not a simple scratch on the paint here.. Like I said before, I wouldn't accept anything less than $5,000 off MSRP considering the damage. As for "lifetime warranties" I had one on my G6's front bumper repair and guess what..they went out of business at the same time the dealer closed down. They re-opened with a new name so they wouldn't have to worry about all the "lifetime warranties"..

Talk to GM and see how quickly you can get a brand new order in and go from there. Also ask for some discount on the new order for your troubles, it can't hurt to ask..

Who cares about the low vin #. The car is damaged goods and once its repaired its never the same. you risk paint peeling, dullness, paint not matching. Plus it hurts the value of the car. Pros know when a car has had work done. I'd send it back and demand a new car. I could care less about the vin #. As a matter of fact even with replacing the car they should STILL compensate you somehow for screwing up and making you have to wait. Thats how its supposed to be. Dont take any kind of loss for this, make Chevy take the hit all the way. Settle for nothing less than what you paid FULL PRICE for.

No info on the gm rep today, probably more concerned about the bankruptcy.

I will post if I get an update on Tuesday.

If it was me, I would always see the damage. Even if it was fixed perfect.

What is worth more to you, the low Vin #, or the satisfaction of getting something you have always wanted, the way you have always wanted to get it.

I have a Q the scratches in the hood how did those get there, and do you have to paint the whole thing, the mirror I could see as not as big of a deal from the pictures,I would have to say if just knowing that damage was done and is bothering you don't take it,otherwise I think all your going to get is your car repaired and a pat on the shoulder, then when you go to trade it in at the same dealer years from now they will tell you oh this car has been painted we'll have to knock another 2grand off your trade(or more)something to think about.Good Luck!

I would have them fix it to your satisfaction, and accept delivery on the car......only after I met with the GM rep. I would ask the GM rep. to give you free bumper to bumper warranty for the lifetime of you owning the vehicle, with any repairs at any Chevy Dealership. No loss of profit to the dealer, your happy and have peace of mind for all the time you own the car, and not much out of GM's pocket to make you happy.....everybody wins!
