Looks like around $30 as a ballpark figure; but it will be stainless steel so you do get what you pay for in this case...
wait...a stainless hide away plate holder?

Won't cut it in NJ. Need the front plate despite the limited , if any, benefits of having one. Would save alot of money for New Jerseyans if it were eliminated. If you live here you know, cost savings are an after thought, usually around election time---like now. Govenor primary vote TODAY 6/2/09

Not hideaway (at this stage); too much involved to do it right using ALL stainless including springs. I will look into it though.

Here are two early shots of a test fitting on the V6. It was designed to fit the V8 originally (cause that's what I ordered), but we are trying to modify it slightly to fit both without rubbing anywhere. Please note that the welds are currently rough because this is a prototype designed for fit testing, not a final production model.

I hope to have some pictures of the test fit on a V8 soon and I will update with pictures and ordering information as soon as it is available. [On a side note, thanks so much to the little "birdie" who is helping out with the test fitting! ]

And here is the final product as installed on a Mustang. [I know, sorry it's a Mustang. Hope to have pictures of it installed my my Camaro as soon as I actually get a Camaro!]

I agree with you, so I must be crazy too.
My son and I have been pulled over for the dumbest things and gotten tickets over the years. I have friends who are cops and the nicest guys in the world, but there are some real a[censored]oles out there too.
Sure you can fight it and maybe win, but I don't need the hassle or the possibility of my insurance going up any more.

I had them put the stock bracket on and be done with it.
Like you said I'm already driving around in a highly visible red 2010 Camaro, I don't need any more attention.
I am really enjoying driving this car and to me this is one little concession towards piece of mind.
I say go ahead and rivit that sucker on there!!

Yes..... me too. Like to compare.

Would a powder coated one the same color as the car be better?

I may give in, I'm thinking how when it's snowing and I'm going thru snow if the hideway gets caught when it's underneath and bye-bye plate...

So for now it's going to be something like what Camaropete is working on so hoping that comes out before I get my Camaro. Times a tickin' for me before I gotta give the ok to install the front plate or not...

Here are some shots of the test fit on the V8. Looks like a perfect fit.

Great work!

One question, do those spacers expand as you tighten the bolt or do they just fit perfectly into the grille area?

Question is, how much is a welded fab like that going to cost?

Ok, I'm good to go (temporarily)

First measurements were just slightly off in what I call the "standoff dimension" for the height of my spacers. I put washers in their place until I make new ones tomorrow...

Ok, first step:
Cut 3 required stainless steel strips on your friendly neighborhood waterjet.

Be sure to leave break-off tabs between the pieces.

Break the 3 pieces apart and lay them out representing the final assembly.

Drill two 1/4" holes in the back rib of the OEM license plate holder 7" apart straddling the centerline, 1/2" in from the edge. Assemble the license plate holder, top bar, and 2 main bars as shown with 1/4-20 bolts, washers, and nuts.

Remove the two screws holding the lower part of the front fascia, put the stainless standoffs (washers for now) against the screw holes you just exposed, and bolt up your assembly with two longer m6 x 1 bolts (30mm length min).

Check your assembly to make sure it matches this.

Then simply enjoy the view(s)

^^^^^ The ground clearance is almost 7" to the bottom of the license plate- the picture angle is a little deceiving.
