Cars are more expensive because people demand that they have ever imaginable technology packed into them. GPS, touch screen radios, cameras, electric adjustable heated seats and on and on. That adds costs and complexity. Another problem is the whole green movement makes V8 cars out to be some threat to society. |

I want to see a Z/28 ASAP. The 1LE is a good hors d'oeuvre, but no substitute for the main course. |

The flip side is geographic. A few years ago we moved from a rural population to a city population a few years back. If I lived on Lakeshore Drive in Chicago I am sure I would still have a hot rod. I am not so sure my kids would need or want one. The cost of parking and insurance amount to a small fortune. Their friends from school would live in the city. The need for a car is marginal. We live in small town Texas. The kids in this area can't wait to get a car. The top two choices are a truck or some type of performance car. What 16 year old would not want a CTS-V when they get a license or a Camaro or Mustang. It was culture shock when I first started checking out the HS parking lots. It is four or five full size pickup trucks to a car. |

....sidenote, I saw a news item on cable, something about the GM marketing was not bringing in buyers with the current media sales approach and they were going to change the marketing sales pitch. Sales have slumped. IMHO going back to the sales pitch of baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet is only going to bring back into the fold older buyers who can remember that bygone era. The marketing needs to get more advanced. A comparision, we have seen sooo many posters who have challenged the signficance of the Z/28 moniker as if it were comic relief.

Faster Laps More Composed And the winner is the Mustang because they like to slide the axx end of a car around the track and the open ILLEGAL for street use exhaust is louder ![]() The Chevrolet Camaro is too smooth, too refined and too fast to be appreciated by Automobile They also labor under the false impression that the improved turn in, cornering and balance are the result of the tire selection. Obviously the new sway bars and litany of other improvements had nothing to do with the results Ford's failure to recognize that the wheel and tire combination is wrong on the Mustang year after year, the sway bar bias is still wrong and the rear front control arm bushes are mush get props from Automobile when the front pushes and the rear end slide ![]() I know what we can get out of a well setup Mustang and Camaro. They are dead heats. Chevrolet has made significant upgrades to the 5th Gen resulting in better handling cars each year. Ford adds RWHP. The more power Ford adds while failing to address the suspension, wheels and tires the more pronounced the handling defects become. Hand me a GT500 with 650 ponies and I'll hand you back a seriously bad axx Ford. Here is what it would take. 1. Pedders coilovers with camber plates 2. Pedders rear front lower control arm bushes 3. Pedders lower front chassis brace 4. Pedders rear chassis brace 5. Pedders rear panhard bar 6. Six pot fronts with 15 1/4 rotors 7. Pedders special track compound brakes 8. Rudimentary front brake ducts 9. 19x10.5 Forgeline Pedders special offset wheels 10. Bridgestone RE-11 305/30/19s all around Of course there are improvements to be had with the ZL1, but the ZL1 is so much closer to being optimized than the GT500 they won't have as much impact. |

![]() Oh and don't be passing around that information on how to rectify the Mustangs issues. We don't want it getting into the wrong hands. |

![]() The Mustang is not a bad car. It is a car that responds really well to key braces, suspension tweaks and setup and it needs them BAD. The 5th Gen requires no braces, but it does respond exceptionally well to suspension upgrades. At C5FEST the fastest Camaros at the CamaroCross were on Pedders. The fastest IRS Camaros at the drag strip on Lingenfelter Drag Coilovers by Pedders (available exclusively from Lingenfelter)and Pedders Supercars. Just sayin.... |
