What to do!!
Took my ZL1 to our local collision center (I DO NOT LIKE THIS DEALERSHIP, but they're local) to check out the spotting in my car..
I've tried washing, polishing compounds, bug and tar remover, and also the latest, clay bar!! The collision center tried a couple 3M products they had, and were also unsuccessful by hand!! They are thinking wet sanding it to see if it's just in the first couple layers of clear...... Is this something I should do with a dealership I trust to do it right?? Or can just about any collision center with half a brain be able to wet sand and not mess up my paint?? The last time I had this go round with this dealer they messed up the whole paint job on a brand new pickup I had! Ended up having to go to arbitration, and ended up getting the whole truck reprinted!! The truck turned out great, however that particular GM collision center is 200 miles away!! So should I just trust the dealer that's 200 miles away? Or give the local dealership a shot again, but this time with a $55K sports car rather than a $25K truck? Only advantage I see for the local dealership, is I could check on it daily!! Thanks for any help!

I got most of mine out with maguires ulitimate compond not the polish but the compound. then I used the polish. in the right light I can still see some but it is night and day over when the car was deliverd. I rubbed it out by had though I am sure with a buffer it would have came right out but I am stupid and would most likely burn the paint somewhere. I am not sure if there is something a tad more agressive out there but if there it it would do the trick for sure.
I know you should not have to do it yourself but I don't trust people anymore so I will just take car of this myself. Wetsanding will definatly do it but if you got so far you are SOL so make sure you take it somewhere that will really treat the car right. I am more a large hammer kind of person so I usually let my dad someone who knows what the word finness even means do that kind of stuff. I am going to go back in the right light and try the compount with more elbow grease and see if I can get it all out.

Any half decent paint guy should be able to wet sand something like that NP. They should be at least average or above average to work at a dealer...but im sure theres plenty of exceptions.

Wet sand as a last resort. Can't imagine te spots won't come out. If wet sand hit it with 2000+ grit. Nothing less. GM historically has some thin clear. But I agree with the comment above. A decent paint guy should have no problem.

The clay bar didn't help me but I had a couple of swirl scratches that I put on the paint myself with the wrong compound and I used a product from maguires that worked great. I'm sure there is something that I will eventually find that will work its getting closer at least....

Is it just me or does it look like your paint is more faded towards the edge? There has to be something you can use to get those spots off before you go the route of wet sanding.

It's just the picture and the way it focused. I see what you're talking about though. I have a couple idea's I'm going to try myself before letting the dealership touch it!!

Where you all driving these cars, I've got 2100 miles on and not a spot. I haven't smoked the tires, could that be the issue?
