Actually this is a synthetic blend, not full synthetic.

BTW, Dexos is a spec, not a brand.

And not only that, you can do the oil change yourself for around $35 using Mobil 1.

Impossible. At almost $10 a quart this can't be done. Especially when the SS takes almost 9 guarts. The cheapest is about $80. And that's when autozone has it on sale for 5 quarts and a filter for $38.99. And you have to buy 2 of those deals.

I was talking for a V6, but even for an SS you can do it for about $48, hell even cheper in most case if you do it right.

BTW - The SS call for 8qt's.

two 5 quart bottles at walmart ran me 54$ yesterday. So you should be able to do it for $60 or less.

With an LLT, DO NOT follow the DIC!

Here is my statndard post to V6 oil posts when asked about the DIC:

Newer 2011 and those that had the ECM flashed the OLM is now pretty much mileage based and will zero out at right around 5K, regardless of the driving condition. My guess is they did this because of the LLT engine issues and people letting the OLM zero out.

Also I've yet to have to top it off at any time, although at 4K miles I've lost about a 1/4 a quart, well within specs.

As with all V6, I suggest the following:
1- Check your oil frequently; I do mine at every fill up
2- IGNORE the OLM
3- Oil changes:
Conventional <= 3K
Synthetic (Preferred) <= 5K. I use Mobil 1 and change at 4K

These little steps can help save your V6 from the dreaded timing chain/oil loss issues

That sounds about right. I use the extended protection and that's why it costs a little bit more. You also get an extra filter buying it the way I do.

I'll admit when I'm wrong, and the manual does say 8 qts. But after I pre oil my filter and fill her up it usually totals to about 8.6 qts.
