SS TURBO KITS

Would like to consider a turbo kit but why are all the turbo kits out there have equipment hanging too low for my liking when the car is lowered.

Have you looked into the turbonetics kit. It sits the turbo up front and the rest is under but pretty tucked away. Also this should be in the FI section.

Moderators move this then please. The Turbonetics kit has the freaking wastegate under the car and if there is like 6" of water it will get into the wastegate I already talked about this with the guys at Phastek.

I personally wouldn't be that worried if it takes 6" of water to get up into the wastegate. Granted I live in a dry state, but how often will you see 6" of water? Worst case scenario is you move the wastegate up and run a dump tube that flows into the exhaust.

High flash flood area very likely 6". Relocating the WG is a good Idea if possible.

If you ask me i think relocating it is your best bet. Other than that id say your "F'd" if moving from ur state is not an option.

I don't see why it wouldn't be. Many turbo kits for cars that come stock with turbos switch the mounting point of the turbo. Some turbos, like the STi's, have the wastegate mounted on the turbo instead of an external wastegate. Works well.

Those are internal wastegates that mount the actuator to the turbo. Gas V8 needs to wastegate way more air than you can flow through internal wastegates. This is because you need to keep the boost low but the engine puts out so much air.
Only thing you really need to worry about for 6" deep water, is that the air filters sit high enough. You can get turbos wet all day long no problem, they are sealed up.

Check out the TT kit from the shop in AZ. Nothing hangs below the body/etc. Very nice high quality stuff. You would damage a ton of other stuff before hitting the turbos.

I don't think he's worried about the turbos getting wet here, and an internal wastegate can be made as large as an external, it's just a different mounting point. You can order a 88mm turbo with an internal. And the wastegate vents to atmosphere, there is no way to seal that up. I would have it moved personally, cheap and effective.

Your waste gate shouldn't be getting any water in it, you should not be driving through 6" of water any way unless you got a truck. Turbos and wastegates are the least of your prob. I say relocate.

Talking from alot of experience. The turbo kits that I highly recommend are HPS's turbo kit and Turbonetics. Stay far away from Fastlane's kit if your offered one. Call Chris over at HPS and he'll talk to you about his kit which personally I think is the cats meow for our cars. I just wish they came out earlier with it but they did everything right and tested before they started to sell them which is how REAL shops do it.

The turbonetics kit wastegates do not vent. It has pipes that plumb it back into the exhaust.
