Would you consider these motor mounts to be more street practical than Pfadt's motor mounts? Are the Prothane motor mounts significantly better than stock?

Here are a few pics of the new motor mounts. These are some nice pieces.

I purchase two new freeze plugs and had them polished. Once the engine is painted, I will replace the old ones with these.

Here the vid of my buddy polishing the freeze plugs, Enjoy.

yeaaaaa that didn't really happen. My graduate program started up the last week of August and it's basically taken over my life. This is the first chance I've gotten to catch up on your thread. Looks amazing btw. It's funny though, this thread started out so quiet. Just move this bracket over here, polish up the valve covers, and now you've got the trans out in your driveway.

I am keeping a list though of all the stuff I want to do when I have the time. Well the list is more just a list of your post numbers that I can reference, but it gets the job done.

Thanks. It was spread out a lot due to work/wife/and shredding felt bobs so I don't have a super accurate estimate. Plus my chronic pain issues prevent me from just sitting and working on something for 8+ hours like I used to. I would say if you ordered a bunch of stuff in advance it would take you a very full weekend. The porosity and casting was brutal and I'm OCD. No normal sized anything fits in the ribbed areas on top/bottom/side.

Knowing what I do now I could shave some time off having the right stuff the first time. And I would be a bit more aggressive sanding at first to get things even. I also didn't want to be super aggressive with compounds since it gets stuff super hot and I left all the electronics in there. Working around the plastic connector was annoying. The worst part was removing all the compound from the freakin ribbed sections. There's no aggressive degreasers that are safe on aluminum so thats something I need to research. A toothbrush and citrus cleaner is a pain in the rear. Worked better than a paint prep degreaser though. Once again trying to be safe around electronics so no soaking in a parts wash. Had to do it 3 times for the 3 compounds, I swear I wasted a full day trying to clean the thing so as not to cross-contaminate compounds and wheels.

Thats also why I haven't decided to clear coat yet. I need to be more thorough in removal of compound from the underside and a few hard to reach spots before I try clear coat. A quick google search states lacquer thinner works best. Too pig headed to have done that before.

To be continued...

Does anyone know a place to get these fittings at a much cheaper rate? $40 is a lot for the fitting.....

They're asking $40

The only other company I know of is Kurt Urban, and the fittings are $16 each

Me, the garage and my workbench are covered with aluminum when I'm done. And then the compound starts flying everywhere. I don't want to think about my lungs.
Be aware Aluminum dust is explosive under the right conditions.

Well I finished up redoing my fuel lines over the weekend, I think it cleaned up pretty well. I also did a mini write-up in the DIY section:

I was able to relocate the driver side fuel line, but not the passenger side. Once I clean up some wiring, I'm considering redoing the line to go down and across (below where the EVAP solenoid is located)

Anyone have any dealings with Scooters Performance? They sell carbon fiber vavle covers, but $389 instead of Katechs $750. Any input?

Called today but couldn't get a hold of them. From the research I've done, I haven't heard of any issues like leaking, but I'll see what kind of warranty they can offer if a leak does occur.

I think they make them themselves, opposed to Katech who uses Carbon Components to manufacture theirs. Maybe this is why they are considerably cheaper than Katech.

Scooters offers valve covers for a variety of different engines, BBC, SBC, and LSX.

BBC

SBC

LSX

Katech:

The LSX design looks exactly what I have, opposed to the SBC covers. (I have Mast Black Label heads, so not sure if those are LSX heads???)

The SBC are $389, and the LSX ones are $499. I'm going to find out the main differences for price.

Hopefully this is a good alternative to Katech.

EDIT: Hoping that my oil cap will fit, need to double check since I'm running a line into the heads for oil

[QUOTE=Nathan Moreno;5404441]TXM62SS, thanks for posting the pics. looking really good and love how you ran your fuel and vacuum lines! Mike did a great job on the intake manifold, almost looks wet ]

Nate...I just spoke with Mike and he is going to do some Holley valve covers for me to match the intake. I will post the pics when its all done! Can't wait to get rid of the stock covers and brackets.
