LPE 3.91 gears and Phadt differential bushings installed today...

I just had LPE 3.91 gears and Pfadt differential bushings installed today. I bought the gears through JRE...... Now I know if I was patient, I probably could have waited and bought the gears for much cheaper, but patience is a virtue and I am not a virtuous man.

Anyways, back to the gears....What a difference! I know it's been said many times before, but it's true....the cars feels lighter and pulls harder down. The install was done at Unitrax in Anaheim. What a GREAT shop. Everyone was great! Devin was extremely knowledgeable and took me in right away. Eddie introduced himself while I waited in the waiting room, assured me my car was in great hands, and offered me a cup of coffee.

When my car was done, Jose (installer) told me to drive the car out with him as a passenger to make sure I was happy with the install. As I test drove the car, I was very easy, and he said, "sounds good. Now get on it a little.". Well, for me the is no "little", so from a 20 mph roll I slammed her in first, slammed second, and slammed 3rd for a couple seconds. As I looked over at Jose, he was holding onto the passenger door handle .

Satisfied, I returned to the shop. Devin and Jose told be that during the install they noticed several bolts were loose on my trailing arms and sway bars (I installed them ). They went ahead and tightened them for me . Devin gave me the break-in procedure (I thought I had already broken them in ) and told me once that was done, to beat on the gears as much and as hard as I wanted.

Total price: $625 ($410: gear install, $150 differential bushing install, the rest misc parts, fluids, and tax)

Anyways, if you've been on the fence about gears, just do it. If you are looking for an outstanding shop to install them, check out Unitrax in Anaheim.

The 1LE HAS these mods(although gummier tires and lighter wheels and a few more suspension bushing upgrades and such) but I'm guessing 2, MAYBE 3 tenths quicker will be made up in the quarter.

I've only stepped on it hard a couple times, but yes I can tell they are there. The rear is more planted, and there is a very slight increase in vibration.....almost unrecognizable, but if you pay close attention, it's there.
