UPDATE ON MILEAGE

Check the first post to get caught up.

I just checked the DIC for the first time since resetting it and it now reads 19.6 mpg.

I call complete BS with these extreme mpg figures. Have I stumbled into a 6cyl thread? Not the fact that people are gaining mpg with the addition of a cai, that makes total sense, especially with a rich factory tune.

Wtih the exception of Jrichards73, which is what I get and others I know, 15 at best city, 20-21 max hyw under normal driving. These people getting in the twenties over-all and high twenties hyw sounds ridiculous.

Not mean to hyjack, glad to hear people are seeing gains from cai's.

I bought my car about 2 weeks ago. It is still stock and running about 11 MPG...

I'm not doing too well. It's too hard to not drive like i'm a race car diver.

I will obviously need all the help i can get.

Awesome!! Glad to hear you are seeing a few more mpg with the installtion of our CAI, espcecially with the prices of gas these days!

Increased fuel economy can be a great benefit to adding our CAI, many of our customers who are buying our intake for their full size GM Truck or SUV are buying tem soley for that reason. I just spoke with a customer yesterday who has seen over a 2 mpg increase on his 2011 Tahoe after recently installing our CAI. Which makes our CAI's even more appealing for the large gas guzzling vehicles out there!

I have not noticed the huge gains as some have. I am sure that is because of how I drive it though.

How often do I need to replace the filter?

Which CAI do you have, is it ours (Cold Air Inductions Inc.)?

If it is our filter, the filter never needs to be replaced because it is a lifetime use oiled ir filter, but in time it will need to be "Recharged" which is basically cleaning and oiling it. However, if you do not want to recharge it you can obviously replace it with a CAI Inc. replacement filter. Here are the links for the filters and recharge kit: http://www.coldairinductions.com/store/air-filters

As for how often you need to recharge or replace, it really depends on driving conditions. A visual inspection should show when all the filter pleats are completely filled with dirt and debris, which is when a recharge or replacement may be needed. Generally our customer go as much as 15k-20k miles before needing to do so, but it varies. Some preventative maintenance of removing any large debris and blowing off the filter from the inside out with some low pressure compressed air goes a long way as well.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the update. It is a BBK CAI. I only have about 5,000 miles since it was installed. I will have to check up on the exact type of filter through BBK.

With all in my sig, sold city driving I get 13.4-14. That was the same bone stock and new. Have 10800 miles now.Now on some short freeway test runs at 65-68 mph to see if any changes, brand new she was at 26.7.Now last test was at 28.7 or so.I attribute that more to break in miles as there werent any real changes with less miles and the aftermarket parts. But you never know, may have helped. Overall real driving averages havent changed much

At 42000 bone stock and my overall is 20.8. That is with 20k of that on freeways and highways with cruise control. Maybe I can talk to the wife with a new arguement for a Cai....it will pay for itself with California gas prices.
