The downside its that the v6 can be heavily modified. A turbo 4 will be near its peak power with little room for improvement.

Worst idea ever...

But GM isn't known for their brilliant ideas...

Which is why I'm sure it will only be appealing to a certain group of people.

That's not true at all. I have some friends into Sky's that are putting down 400-425 to the ground. The 2.0T is made for modding with all it's forged internals.

If they could make a 4-cylinder Camaro that is just as powerful (if not more) than the current V6 5th Gen's, and do even better on gas...then why not?

Don't think of it as 4 cylinders in a Camaro...How Could They? No, wrong way to view it. Think of it as the power and performance that it could potentially have.

We all know that the current V6's are more powerful than previous model V8's, so if they can build a Camaro with only 4 cylinders, and have it powerful and able to get out of it's own way rather nicely, it wouldn't bother me at all especially if it gets great gas mileage.

Putting a 4-cylinder in a 5th Gen would make it get a 0 - 60 of about a minute and a half, but a lighter 6th Gen might just work fine.

4 Cylinder Camaro......?!

Say it ain't so, GM, say it ain't so!!
Honestly, if this happens, I don't care how much lighter it is, the Camaro name will be ruined to me, as well as many others, I imagine.

I mean, even though I own a V6 Camaro and love it, sometimes I sort of feel like something is missing from the experience. A car like the Camaro, with its classic heritage and looks, you just expect it to have the muscle to back it up. If they take 2 more cylinders away, they will have effectively created a "Neutered" trim level, and should complete the package with sad, lifeless puppy faced logos where the SS badge should be.

That is why I bought the V8 traditional while I could.

Couldn't they also design something very radical like a 5cyl?

What is the deal with twin turbos, do they work in tandem or kick in separately as needed to support each other? Do you still get the "turbo-lag" with twin turbos?

theres a few different ways to set up twin turbos,
in parallel, (both do the same work) 50/50
in series, (one feeds the other)
sequential, (one works at lower boost levels at higher levels, the other kicks on, and the first one may either be bypassed or continue working)

Thanks David W. I never had a turbo, only "heard" things about them which is as good a verbal agreement is on the paper it was written on !

Don't you really have to watch your oil level and change it more often with a turbo? Not sure where I heard that, but around here, any chance to change oil is a welcomed thing...

I think it's funny to see some of the v6 guys scoff at the idea of a 4 cylinder.

I don't think it's going to be THAT bad. I came from tuner cars, so I've seen plenty of 4 cyls that can wipe the floor with a lot of V8s.

The only issue is to get to that speed, you better have some deep pockets.

It's going to be awesome. I saw one of the preliminary advertisements leaked on the internet:

"The sound of an I-4 with the horsepower and fuel economy of a V-6 and the pricetag of a V8."

Please no! Some of us already get harassed enough for having six cylinders. I can only imagine the moral beat downs they will get.
