The new iPhone is smaller and lighter, yet they keep putting in faster CPUs with more cores. You would think that your inverse logic that they should be putting in slower CPUs with less cores... maybe a Pentium-2 or a 6502.

I'll keep an open mind on this. It will probably be better than what I've got now...

But this is the problem for me. I dont want a smaller lighter camaro. If I wanted a "sports" car I would have gotten a corvette. I wanted a "muscle" car, a heavy chevy if you will . Would I like my 5th gen to be a tad lighter sure but I dont want to sacrifice the look and size, just lighter mufflers, lighter shaft etc

When the sixth gens come out I'm going backwards and buying a restored first, second, or third gen (dont like the 4th styling much)

They'll be no moral beat down if the 4-cylinder they might make is more powerful than a 5th Gen's V8. I don't know if they'd go there though.

Just remember folks, it's not GM you should be placing the blame on completely.

Your elected officials who make up insipid rules, like CAFE, are the ones you need to blame. GM is just trying to comply with laws that would impose serious fines on the company if they did not increase their corporate average fuel economy.

If CAFE did not exist we'd see 500-550 hp V8s in Camaros come off the assembly line with a sticker under $30k.

I remain with Bob Lutz on this one: forcing car companies to shove high fuel economy down buyer's throats by forcing them to make cars with high efficiency is akin to forcing Americans to loose weight by making it illegal to produce pants with an inseam no larger than 32 inches and shirts no bigger than large.

On the OTHER hand, this is an opportunity for GM to make engines like many European and Japanese companies already do. High reving, small efficient motors that still provide lots of power and performance. In some cases driving a high reving turbo charged 4 cylinder can be even more engaging than driving a low reving torque monster of a V8.

The regular joe Euros and Asians drive little 4 bangers because gas costs $10 dollars a gallon and they have very little room in their homes or work to park. The rich joe's drive the bigger SUVs and luxury gas hogs. Bottom line is the regular joe's in other countries would love to have our big guys but can't afford them.

If it's for CAFE reasons, why does the Camaro have to be the sacrificial lamb, down-sized and down-powered?....Just call it a different car with a 4-banger....The best existing platform for this new engine would be the Corvette!...I'm sure the Vette community would embrace this idea with open arms as well.....lol
