A 4-banger Camaro would truly be the death of American muscle. I'd never buy one.

They might as well make a cruze coupe and sell that with the turbo 4. Putting the camaro name on such a thing could possibly be considered "Hate Speech".

Just My $.02. If Obama wins the Presidency you will have a 4 cylinder Camaro, if Romney wins you have the 8 cylinder still available. Just my opinion, you don't have to agree but that is how I see it. Rumor was that Obama did not even want the Camaro put into production after the Government takeover but GM said they were to far along and were going ahead with the launch of the Camaro. I believe it to be true after his past actions especially after shutting down the Keystone Pipeline.

It's funny because the same reasons why you guys bought a v6 instead of a v8 would apply in the v6 vs 4 cylinder battle. A lot of people would say a v6 doesn't belong in a camaro but we all know that without a v6 model there would be no v8 since the majority of the camaro sales are v6. So to knock the idea of yet another engine option that would appeal to new buyers and still offer good performance is just silly and slightly hypocritical.

As for me not having a 5th gen your right but when I do buy one for my wife it will be a v6 so please don't think I'm in any way hating on any of you guys or your cars.

There have been 4-banger Camaros in the past, yet the Camaro is still around and you even own one. I don't see the problem. There is no indication there won't be a V6 and V8 available in the future as well. Buy the one you want, and hope enough other people do the same so they don't quit making them again.

My srt-4 2.4l turbo, 2900 lbs is faster than my 2010 ss ls3. I think the turbo would be sweet.

Figured I have fun since this thread is everywhere now.

Seriously, I know folks are influenced this time of year due to the election press and ads. Even car threads become political because political policies Can affect car company direction.

Your team is giving you one-sided, exaggerated facts so they can use you to win. So lets leave the politics out of talking about cars and car passion.

I'll start.

The 4cyl camaro appears to be a rumor. The camaro should be lighter before a 4 cyl goes in. The zeta platform is based on the australia design where they need a stronger frame for the terrain. I don't see them changing it in 3 yrs.
But when they do make a 4 cyl, that is good. Widens the gap between the eco version vs v8 performance version. But I doubt it as they have plenty of other cars for their 4T.

As long as car makers have lots littered with hybrids and 4's it bring up the fuel average for the whole fleet so you can have v8 trucks, camaros and corvettes. I think they will cancel camaro before putting a 4 in one! Hell Cadillac is thinking bout a 16 for its S-class fighter coming out in a couple years, but we all know it will be a v8.

THANK-YOU! This is a CAR forum and someone always finds a way to slip in politics ! I agree, if they do have a 4-cyl it would be in the LS(base) 6-cyl LT(mid model) and v8 SS(top model).

It would be sweeter on a V8.

You havce it backwards. Even Political Ads have become automotive.

We got one guy running ads now promising to "Double Fuel Economy" in his next term. How many people think this can be done in a short time and will not add significant cost and because the way the measurments are averaged will harm Muscle Car owners the most?

At least his side is giving some semblance of FACTS. I like exaggerated facts over exaggerated lies any day of the week.
