So, car has been with the new dealer (that GM picked) for 4 days now. I am bing told that they can fix some of the issues but for the 'other' issues the car will have to be returned to the original dealership... so says the regional rep. (GM told me I would not have to deal with them any more)

That is just bullshit. Have you tried the GM Executive office to elevate it? I think Dan Ackerson should given one of these problem verts to deal with as an undercover boss at one of these lousy service departments. Then have the Brand Quality tell him all this nonsense.

![]() I sometimes get the feeling that no one cares that I have been without this car for over 2 months out of the first 13 (15 percent of the time) that is like the car being at the dealer more than 1 day a week since I have owned it. Another way to look at it is about $1680 has been spent on something I cannot use. ![]() I also estimate (lay person) that the value of this car has been cut in half due to all the problems.... that is about 24K. I don't know about anybody else here but as a man who has worked my entire life, them aint small potatoes. :( |

At least the mileage is staying low to fight the depreciation!

Tram: You are to be commended on your noble character in dealing with these most unfortunate circumstances relating to your top issues (I'm beginning to sound a lot like the GM rep).
However, you, as well as others here, have made some very valid points: a significant one being, your Convertible's depreciation will probably be staggering, nay, crippling, if / when you decide to trade it in, one day. From reading your many, many posts / comments, you don't strike me as a man without a conscience. Perhaps the question that begs to be asked and answered is whether you would want some other, unknowing soul, to purchase what they believe is their "dream car" only to inherit what could very well turn out be recurring and nightmarish problems that you once had? I don't believe you would. It is not mine to guess as to the reason you work two jobs and that's not my point. However, your money is as good as anyone else's and, if ever the day comes to "divest" yourself of your current "dream car", either through trade or sale, you will, with near certainty, pay a dear price for your good-hearted and noble nature in dealing with the parties involved in resolving your convertible's current issues. The plain and simple fact of the matter is that what may have been a relatively repairable top issue has morphed into multiple, multiple "ails" that your "dream car" now suffers from, through the "incompetence" of PROFESSIONALS who were either not trained, not trained properly, did not make the necessary inquiries, did not make the necessary effort in becoming educated enough to competently repair your top or were just plain "negligent". Irrespective of which, "professionals", in particular, are and need to be held accountable for their actions. Licensed "professionals" should be made to bear the full consequences of their actions up to and including the loss of their job and the company / companies that back the employee(s) and his employer or even the manufacturer need to rectify the existing problems which have multiplied many times over beyond a "top repair / replacement". In my profession, we have "malpractice insurance". If something goes wrong, there will be an investigation which will hopefully help to determine whether the problem lies with the employee, the process, the equipment, the policies or a combination of any of these. In your case, unfortunately, "accountability" by any one person or organization, is COMPLETELY lacking. I'm not one to use phrases such as "if I were you", or "if I were in your shoes". I will, however, state "if I were in a situation similar to yours", despite your pride, your nobility and your good-heartedness, YOU will, ultimately, pay the price for it, should you not "lemon law" your "dream car". From reading your posts and putting the numbers together, I'm convinced you're old enough, experienced enough and wise enough, to understand and to realize that you will, ultimately, pay the price. You may not suffer the consequences now or next year, or even in 5 years, but you will pay a most punitive price. I’m on your side as I believe all of us who read your posts, are. Think about and hopefully act accordingly, for your own long-term interest.
