Went 3 months while my Camaro was in the body shop. I started to have withdrawal after 2 days then visited the shop 3 times a week just to look at it. I was happier the day when I got it back than the day I bought the car brand new.

For me it depends on what is being done. I try to do all my own work tho, especially if it's performance oriented. Whenever I install a new item, I wanna be the one to start my engine the first time right after the install. Otherwise I feel cheated.

I don't worry because I have a great relationship with the people I use to work on my cars.

I know they are in good hands. I worry more when my wife needs to use one of my cars.

I hate it. My local dealer had my Camaro for a total of 3 weeks, and I checked it on it almost everyday. During its 3 weeks stay at the dealer they somehow managed to damage my stripes and I had to fight with them for 2 months before I finally got reimbursed for the replacements.

I had a 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 2 door hardtop with a built blown and cammed 347 stroker about 7 years ago. I installed a Mustang II front coilover subframe in it and took it to go get an alignment. It was a big name shop so I thought it would be okay to go with a buddy to get something to eat while the alignment was getting done. They were supposed to push it into the bay and not start it. As my buddy and I are pulling into the parking lot after lunch I hear my car and witness my car sliding sideways out of the parking lot and tires smoking all the way down the street. I stood in front of the shop and could here the driver romping on it all the way around the block. It only had a set of Hooker long tubes on it so it was loud. I was irate and luckily the owner of the shop was there and I was already talking to him before the two techs got back. Yes I said 2 techs. The dude that did the alignment decided to take his buddy for a joy ride. The dude that was driving ended up getting fired because I guess it wasnt the first time he did something like that. It was kind of hard for him to deny the two long ass black tire tracks down the street. I got the alignment for free and they offered lifetime free alignments but I wont ever go back there.

I walked into a random transmission shop once to ask some questions about my truck and while I was standing outside I seen/overheard employee's using/taking a customers vehicle to run errands.

Not at the dealership. But when I let a third party install a 'hidden hitch' a few weeks ago, I did a little. But they were a huge trailer operation with a great reputation, so not too nervous.

Not this car, but I had a new BMW that was in the shop for a month. I had only owned it 3 weeks. They even rear ended it while it was in the shop! Since that incident I really hate to leave me car at a shop over night and avoid it any way I can. My Camaro was gone 3 days when they installed the cam and headers. I missed it but they took good care of it.

I fixed that problem by only bringing it to shops that are proven to be trust worthy with cars -- not just mine.

I stopped using one local chevy dealer because they just had crap service and staff.. I watched one of their guys pull my car around and obviously wasn't a stick driver.. Guy had it in 2nd gear and was slipping the clutch with high RPM to the point I smelled clutch.
