Hi Jarp - Matt's post pretty much sums it up.... Damn college football had all the channels covered so never did see Bathurst. Still looking for a replay date.

SixCyl - short answer is this changes the basic behavior of the engine - where and how the engine makes power. The stock cam makes power in a very broad rpm range from just above idle and smoothly makes power to near 6000 rpm. The new cams will increase the horsepower and torque in a different rpm range say for example beginning at 3000 rpm to 7000 rpm. The effect is at idle is sort of like driving a 4 cylinder and at 3000 rpm driving a really peppy 6 cylinder and at 5000 to 7000 driving a v8 on steroids. Driving a car with the proper cam and tune can be addicting: btw, there is no rehab for the power hungry...

If you're interested, check out the Crane Cams master catalog and give the section on how to choose a cam and a couple of other sections on "degreeing" the cam. You should come away with a good understanding how cams work and the different types..

Hey everyone, this is my 1st post on this forum, but have been following this thread for weeks. I've been one of Steves cam testers in Aus too. Jumped on the dyno last night and the cams made 30rwkw together with the tune. Thats impressive

That's awesome news!
Do you have a graph? Who did the tune?

Forgot to add that I have an LY7 engine. so the gains might be different in an LLT.

Yes I've got dyno graphs, I'll post them once I get hands on them. Waiting for them to be emailed.

Hi Tulkas - welcome. Do you have any specs on your cams? What are your impressions of the cams?

Specs of the cams are I think the same as yours, 226 profile.

The cams are impressive. Before the tune the power started at 3000rpm and now it starts at 1800rpm sharp. The cams without the tune made the car have less kw's, I did a dyno before the tune and after. Before the tune the car made 117kw at 6800rpm (my car had already 137rwkw with a full exhaust system and cold air intake) and now they make 167rwkw at 6800rpm. I did 3 dyno runs, 5th gear 4th and 3rd and all 3 gears came positive at 167rwkw. The car could go more but the dyno is maxed out at 260km/h. The car also made a substantial amount of torque.

The tune needs tweaking though, the air/fuel ratio is dropping at high rpm. Not enough fuel is going through...
