Hey, where did you get the picture of the yellow SS? Looks just like the front of mine with the stripes, we left a little yellow on the front. Cool picture.

If it were me, I'd give the engine a little more time to break-in, and if it still seemed to be underperforming, I'd have it dynoed. The shop dynoing it will be able to tell you if there is knock retard or the air/fuel ratio is off, etc, and you'll know for sure whether it is making the appropriate amount of power.

A word to the wise though: don't go to your dealer and tell him your story about losing a race. Depending on your state, the dealer may try to void your powertrain warranty based on "abuse." I don't agree with it, but I've heard of it happening. Just tell him it doesn't seem as fast as your GTO and you want them to run some tests.

tourqe manegment

with the new warrenties they are building a lot of tourqe manegment in these cars. you think your at 100 percent throttle but the computers only allowing 80 percent and backing down the timing down to save on warrenty issues. im betting all the first test camaros were tuned a little better. its like harley tax, you are going to have to spend some money to get it right.

The 2002 is actually rated 5hp more by the factory (no big Deal) but my 99 Can run Circles around the 02. It is a lot quicker.

I drove a 2010 2SS/6speed last week ( Like I owned it) Friend of mines car and I must
say I was a little disappointed.

I have a lot of camaro's street rods etc so I know how to drive them hard just wasn't as fast as I though it would be. I think my 99 could take it.

One variable worth mentioning is...The LS engines seem to really run alot better with 10,000 or so miles actually the more the better so far. My 99 has 15,000 miles ,convert less than 1000 !

2SS Less than 500.

I was in the same thought process... my 99 faster why buy new one.

Well,

First off...The 2010 cars are really a much better built car and it is very noticable while driving it. 4th Gen are like Tin Cans (or Should I say mustangs, Not to affend anyone)
a lot of road noise and such....Not so in 2010

So....What did I do about this....

I kept my order and placed an order for a Magnusun Supercharger and full exhaust (Headers back...Borla) and a GMPP Airbox.

Problem solved. Best of both worlds and still 10 grand cheaper than a shelby mustang. More RWHP and a much better ride!
Heh you must be talking about Mustangs from the 60's then. My 03/04 Term did not have a lot of road noise, and my 08 truly does not have any road noise. So just what year are you actually talking about here ?

I am also curious about how a 10k S/C+headers+exhaust+CIA=cheaper than GT500 ? Even if you get the Camaro @ 32k Tax and title included btw, you would still end up about even with GT500. If you go to Ford's site, you can build out a GT002010 for 47k. With what your talking about, you will ring in the same price. And that's if you install it yourself....never mind the warranty just went boom.

But I know what your trying to say. NP. To each their own, just trying to keep it real. No way your coming out 10 grand cheaper, unless you have some secret super hook up nobody else knows about..

Oh god, somehow this has managed to turn into a Mustang vs Camaro thread? It just never ends.... I don't even click on anything about Mustangs anymore and still I have to read this crap.

To the OP: Once your dealer get back to you and takes a look, let us know. No sense in people trying to diagnose a problem over the internet. Too many variables

Nope not a Stang vs: thread at all. I am just keeping it real that's all. Also on topic with the OP, it is to hard to try diagnose this issue over a internet forum. Hell even if it was a 4th gen Camaro that people would understand and know about it would be hard to say what it could be. With a new camaro that has just been released ?? Nigh high impossible.

Best thing to do is take it back to the dealer, DO NOT MENTION RACING, and let them know the car truly feels as its losing power, and something is not right.

It was also a WS6 car. I dunno I never seen it race but he isn't a bullshitter. He could be mixed up with a 12.4 and a 13.4 but he did say 12.4. I thought that was a little fast for a stock WS6 TA too. was just quoting the guy.

OP, just give it time to break in. Plus, youll learn how to launch it to get it going better.

If You will notice I was not trying to Bash mustangs I also referenced Camaro's if you will read the post. I just think the 2010's make the older generations seem like tin Cans! MHO

Also ,If you go to Lineingfelters site they will supercharge
(Magnusun) and tune with Cat back exhaust for 10K (posted on this site as well.)

Hennesy is 8k with free airbox or was and tune.

Lots of options most only cat back included in the 10k ..my bad on that.

As Far as The Shelby's I know very well what they retail for....I personally must not have the right Ford Connections Because The last time I looked ( admitedly its been a while) because I ordered a Camaro, I couldn't get one for MSRP or Under, which I am getting on the Camaro!

What else...Oh yes,

My Dealer is doing the whole install on the magnuson they do alot of them
( Joe Gibs KIts) and the exhaust. Blower comes with 3 year waranty. Exhaust waranty Who Cares! My Dealer Has assured me that waranty on the car will not be an issue unless I blow it up or something under which case I wouldn't expect him to!

I am sure it will depend on the issue but have been buying cars from same guy long time he will do what he can, I can except that.

I own several supercharged cars built them myself and If they go they go...Part of the Game. Get a tougher Bottom end and move on!

Did I forget anything?

Again....just MHO and Observations

Like it or Lump it...Just an opinion ,you also are entitled to yours.

( I was never good at math so I may be off a little one way or the other but hopefully you get my point.)

I just knew that Mustang comment would bring some Flames!:sm0:

That was not my intent...someone was concened about lack of HP.I just offered a suggestion.

It does however sound like in this case there may be deeper issues.

When I drove an SS It didn't seem like it pulled as hard as it should either, so I was presuming He might be feeling the same way. Once again, just my opinion and I have learned my lesson...no more Mustang comments.Sorry Bout That!
People are way to sensitive.

I'm outa here ,Good Luck and GOOD DAY my friend.

Stripper 1LE cars were way faster than WS6 or SS cars. Still, fastest a stock LS1 4th gen will run is around 12.8-9. If he got a 12.4 there is something special in his car.

If you use the Competitive mode, it helps it out a lot. When you put more miles on it, it will give you better performance, but I haft to say that it could do better.

Did you finish the break-in and do first oil change before "racing" the other car?

Nope no flames, I was just trying to figure your math.

Admittedly the older gens of both cars cannot compare to the tech now, but I have owned a 97, 03, and a 08 and I still have a 65. I will say the 97 did have a few noises here and there, but the Cobra was pretty solid. And yes I know you were referencing the Maro's as well. I had a friends Iroc Z for a stint...yeah that thing had all kind of sounds coming from it.

It would seem that the new Maro's will take to F/I very well. Maybe to well. It will be interesting to see what they can take before the tale tale sound and smoke comes from underneath the hood. You know someone has to try..every performance car out there will have someone who will push the envelope. Its all in the fun !

I am not some diehard ZOMG do not say anything about a Mustang, I know their faults and strengths. I just bring up facts and point out the small things when I see them in threads.

I like cars. From imports to domestics, I like cars. I just happened to like Mustangs the most

For the OP, it really seems he has bigger problems. Somehow I do not think his Maro should be slower than his GTO. If anything it should at least be on pace with his GTO, not fall behind it. break in or No break in. Nope, sounds like this one needs to see the dealer again.
