Glad you like it, and people do ask me "what the heck is that"

I have been told I need to look into a computer chip (below dash variety) to make sure my engine is optimizing the new performance enhancements. Does this sound right? Like maybe the factory programming is not going to respond effectively to the new air intake volumes and the flow through on the exhaust? Anyone have any experience there?

I wouldn't do that, it will blow your warranty, and if you're going to blow it, have a custom tune done. An air filter and exhaust won't make that much of a difference, but if you add headers you should start looking into it.

Not necessary for those mods.

A tune is good, will optimize your settings, and gain you about 10 rwhp. However, it will more than likely void your powertrain warranty. I would wait until you're ready to step up to Long Tube headers before doing that just for your warranty sake.

I've been tuned for over 2 years and 10k miles with no issues though. You also need to research and get a good tuner (someone that will tune your car). Since this will void your warranty you don't want just anyone doing it.
