I am not sure what to do, I was in a pinch and filled my car up.. Now it's sputtering.. I get to a stop light/sign and it sputter's like it wants to die.. Should I continue to drive it till the tank is empty or figure out to drain the gas, or is there something I can add to the gas tank to make it better. I am so worried about adding anything to the tank, (even tho I made a poor choice filling up were I did).. Any help would be great.. I am down to about between 3/4 and 1/2 tank..

Arco.. 87% .. I was told when I bought the car at the dealership to only use "the cheap stuff".. was that bad advice?

Yes. I run 93 octane in mine...if you're going to keep driving it till it's empty I'd run some fuel additives through the next tank to help clean it out.

The V6 can run on 87 but the V8 needs 93.

The V8 needs 91, not 93, minimum. Add some Octane Booster, and once the tank is out, do a fuse pull and refill it with 91. I think you'll be OK. If you have the money to burn, sure, drain the tank.

You can get Torco or STP Octane Booster to finish off that tank, but I would not put cheap shit in my car. For the few extra cents a gallon it runs so much better. Why go cheap on gas when you are talking maybe 2$ a tank when all is said and done?!?

Never got the logic behind it..

Once it runs out it will be fine, but probably wouldn't skimp in that department.

Can a V6 run in 91 as well or is just for the V8?

It can but you don't need it. The 87 is just fine!

There are two different schools of thought on this. Plenty of people say that we should run 91. Personally I don't think it makes enough of a difference on our cars, and I don't think we need it-- but there are people who hardcore disagree with that.

Always understood the higher the octane the more complete the "burn" in the cylinders.
If that is true than even if your car doesn't "require" it, it could make for longer engine life with less residual left on or in cylinders and valves
