Most likely. A coworker of mine was taking Stacker II energy pills and ended up with heart palpitations and went to the ER. I don't mess with that stuff-- and most of the drinks taste nasty anyway.

I did at one time take 5 hour energy shots, but I didn't think it really helped me all that much. Now I rely on B12 when I'm dragging.

Okay let me put my perspective. I have slowed my rope on a lot of sugary beverages.

I have tried a variety of them and I used to drink them 2 or 3 times a week. I have had extremes of drinking 8 in a day, to having a redline after a 5 hour energy. But I can tell you these drinks are destructive. The day I had 8 NOS energy drinks, I couldn't close my eyes without seeing hallucinations, I had heart palpitations and my body was running a fever of 102. Redlines, are energy drinks so powerful that they can only be purchased over 18, those with a 5 hour can cause stomach ulcers (didn't know that at the time till I had them)
Now as some of you have stated the warning labels are clear indications of safety, but most people don't realize that the Cross symbol that has been added to energy drinks as a further warning as well as secrecy. The in some cases can not reveal how strong an energy drink is because they know what can happen to people who have them. That being said the warning will be the shutout tool for any legislation, if anyone is responsible it is the parents who allow those drinks or the people who are irresponsible with them. I got lucky and learned. A lot of people my age haven't learned yet.

i used to drink a coffee in the morning and a monster at lunch time, then get home and have supper with a soda,, then 6 months ago one night my heart went into Atrial Fibrillation, beating at 140 at rest and 180+ beats/min when i would move,, i spent 4 days in ccu and it wasnt looking good, finally went back to a normal rhythm when i has sleeping on day 4,,,

havent had a soda or monster since,,

i still have 1 cup of coffee in the morning but thats it. dont know if the monsters or soda had anything to do with it or not but it was enough of a scare to make it not worth it. all other tests i had done were perfect, no blockage, blood pressure great, Cholesterol perfect, not overweight 6'2" 188#. doctors and heart specialist had no answers for me.

no more for me!

I never drink energy drinks at all or coffee for that matter, I hate both of them. I do have a Pre-Workout on training days but it is probably the tamest pre-workout they make.

It's not necessary and as long as you eat, you will have energy, I eat at least 6 times a day and I have plenty of energy everyday.

Not completely true; you also need adequate sleep. Without sleep, you could eat as much as humanly possible and not have enough energy to get through the day. Lack of sleep (pulling all-nighters, long shifts at work, etc) is one reason people resort to energy drinks.
