Yes but you can always take advantage of it in the future when you do decide to tune.

Ted.

Any help for me? Oh injectors, HP fuel pump, one of those systems to cool the SC cooling fluid using the AC. Oh man I'm introuble.

True statement. For the SS and now the ZL1, Ted has offered some insight which has helped us offer you a better product. We certainly appreciate it.

@ RotoFab

Hey guys. I installed mine and love it. Great product. One question though, and call me stupid, but how the hell does air get into the sealed area and filter?

I took a hair dryer on high and held it everywhere I could think of in the front grill and felt NOThING coming through. I could only see 2 small gaps that would let air through. Seems like a fail on GMs part to me.

I know you have the Big Gulp but if left stock with your CAI, where does the air come from?

Thanks

Yes, it's "sealed" around the top with the rubber stripping keeping the engine's heat out, but it's NOT an air-tight, vacuum sealed vault. It's sucking air in from all around that huge filter.

Good question. The stock inlet duct is located behind the grill on the left side. You can see it through the grill once you know where to look. The duct feeds air around the radiator and straight into our air box area.
The stock air inlet duct on the ZL1 appears to be identical to the duct on all other 5th gen Camaros even though the car is pushing nearly 200 more HP. This is one of the reasons we started developing the Big Gulp so quickly.
FYI, although our Big Gulp will allow more air to the filter and air box area, all of the testing so far has been done using the stock inlet only. (please note- although we have inspected the ZL1 duct closely, the pics posted are actually photos of SS cars)

I saw that plastic piece in the picture behind the grill but didn't see the scoop at the top. Ill look again. I was thinking to remove that plastic scoop al together. Would that let more air into the enclosure and filter?

The stock duct makes the air change directions to prevent water intrusion to the intake tract. We DO NOT recommend removing the stock duct. To do so will give water a straight path to the intake system which can result in motor damage-more accurately, motor death! If you want more air to the intake, we recommend the Big Gulp system. FYI, the Big Gulp will also have a feature to prevent water intrusion.

As soon as everyone comes to the realization that NOT everybody treats their vehicles the same, wears the same clothes, enjoys the same movies, or wipes their ass in the same direction...maybe we can get back on topic. I'd like to see more videos of this intake in action. I've only seen one on here and it sounds awesome!

Haha. I drive it like I sole it. But I live in California and I would be damned to let some idiot rear end me in the Z because if our bumper to bumper traffic. Also I have a natural gas Honda that gets me to work and back in the carpool lane and for $50/month in gas. Once I get home the Z gets to play.

Here is a video of my autocross after installing the RotoFab CAI. Turn up the sound, you can hear the supercharger in the video more than the exhaust, and I have the mild to wild set to WILD!. The CAI sounds AWESOME!
