I am on my second pair of KW coilovers. The first pair was the variant 2 on an 05 M3 I had. The dampening seemed to be perfect from the factory and I had no need to change it so I went with the variant 1 for the camaro with the pre set dampening. If you want super soft you could get the dampening setup variant 3 for the camaro. I am not sure about other companies. Good luck on your lowering endeavour.

There are TONS of guys that have lowered their car with drop springs without a problem using any one of the many manufacturers. As long as you don't drop it more than ~1.25in, there's no adverse affect, other than a slightly stiffer ride. Most think the Camaro rides too soft as it sits in OEM form. If you want to slam it, CO's are a must to get the best ride. If you're a hardcore autoX'er, CO's are a must. If you're looking for a more aggressive look with a little performance enhancement, at a nice price, drop springs fit the bill nicely.

LOL....money.

I've got two cars I have to feed mod money to. Before I would drop $8k - $10k on a supercharger for the 5th Gen I'm going to drop an LS3 in my 1st Gen.

Trust me, it's very hard to decided which one I'm going to spend my mod money on when I get it. Luckily my '69 is mostly done but they are never truely done. There is always something I want to do to them but there isn't a big enough money tree in my backyard.

As a note to that....I have loved the way my coilovers have worked on the 5th Gen so much that mod to my '69 is going to be a set of QA1 coilovers.

I had the 1" Hotckis drop spings for about a year before going to coilovers. With the street settings it rides just about as good as stock IMO.

First pic is with Hotckis springs.....then with BC Coilovers.

Here is the way I look at it.....springs are not something that is irreversible. Put the springs on, have the bushings timed, get a good aggressive street alignment. You'll have about $450 in the mod if you install them yourself.

If for some reason you don't like them, go back to stock springs and sell your drop springs. You'll probably loose $200-$300 by the time you sell the springs and get another alignment but a least you gave it a try and you'll know. What you will do is kick yourself if you put it off for a while and then one day do it, love it, and wished you would've done it earler.

My car is a daily driver with 3-4 trips to the drag strip a year and 1 or 2 Auto-X events a year. I only put about 5k miles a year on my car since I don't commute to work. For me, I love the way the coilovers work and would absolutely do it again.

I don't know your driving habbits or conditions so I can only tell you how I like them for what I do with them.

Springs are good if you don't have the money for coilovers but if you have the means....go with coilovers.

Anytime you install lowering springs your ride is going to be a bit stiffer than it was with the factory springs so be ready for that. Our BMR lowering springs are pretty hard to beat as far as value, ride quality, and stance goes. With our BMR lowering springs the ride will be a little bit stiffer but nothing that is unbearable so the ride quality will still good. Many guys will recommend just doing coil-overs but we realize that many guys dont have the budget to mess with coil-overs nor do they want to deal with the hassle so the lowering springs are more of a happy medium between factory springs/struts/shocks and coil-overs.

If there is anything we can help out with or if you have any questions let us know.

Jay- I ain't never seen a "Ghetto Honda Civic" (and I thought being a black man that I seen everything that's Ghetto- Just teasing) BMR is good I know a few heads that have their springs, and rave about it. I on the other hand have Pdaft and I'm in love with it. Well I haven't gotten around to buying the sway bars to compliment the springs. But since lowering it from stock height I've notice a big difference- for one less body roll, and two it handles pretty well cornering. It's also a bit stiffer as well. That's with out the sway bars so I can only imagine once I get the sways- OH GAWD !!! Hope that offers a bit of an insight to your decision making

I have made the mistake in the past with just doing the cheap alternative (springs) and I won't do it ever again. If you go springs you will just be paying more in the long run because you will not be satisfied and will eventually just be replacing them with coilovers. My last sports car was a Mitsubishi Evolution and it handled like it was on rails until I decided to lower it 1" with springs and they totally destroyed it's ride and performance even though the new springs were suppose to be better and tighter than stock. I am going to suck up the cost this time around with either PFADT or Pedders coilovers. They are the best on the market for these cars... so I have been told. Currently just undecided on which ones to get.

P.S. Yes, lowered springs will eventually wear out your stock struts and shocks and then guess what you will be doing... buying coilovers.
yeah, but for the time being, ie the next two years or so for me, springs will give me the look I want with my F-14s and only cost 200 versus 2000 or more...
when it is time to upgrade, I will, and sell the spring for 100 or so....within my budget, springs is the way to go right now.

My family (wife and 2 kids) couldnt be any happier with improved ride quality of my PFADT suspension. Wife says its totally way more "grounded to the ground"

I love the ride i get from my BMR springs! I went with the 1" springs as well. I'm glad i decided to go with them instead of any other company.
