When I was on the GTO forum the monster clutches were raved about. In my GTO I had a ram powergrip HD then later a ram twin disc and it was "ok" It was livable and learnable but far from a great clutch, but when it randomly came apart that's when I vowed to never get another. On to the camaro. I purchased the LS9R from Katech. Its street manners were flawless. It made 0 noise, had 0 chatter, and drove like stock...... but the pedal stuck to the floor, it kept killing throwout bearings, and if you did a burnout first it would grind every gear( probably would have been stuck to the floor but I had the lingenfelter return spring at that point). On to the street slayer (triple in my case). No more upgraded return spring so the pedal is very light. Activation is smooth but strong. Doesn't require you to push the clutch all the way down which allows me to do something I've been longing for since I got the car.....shift as fast as I can with no hesitaion, hang ups, or grinding. From my personal experience and research on the corvette forum and this forum. There are only two proven high power street friendly clutches. RXT and streetslayer. I wish you luck with whatever you choose. The drivetrains in these cars are annoying to say the least.

Out of the thousands of clutches we sell we've got a hell of lot more people happy with them then not. On this forum RPS has done well due to guys trying to pass off a stock GM LS9 clutch as being a "performance" unit. Our singles, when installed properly and broken in properly perform flawlessly. If for some reason you have an issue with your clutch my recommendation would be to give us a call, the clutch shouldn't chatter excessively and the pedal effort of our singles should be no more than 10% stiffer than stock, if anything other than that is occurring something is not correct.

You can do research on Monster Clutch and you will find hundreds of happy customers posting, of course we're human and can't please everyone so obviously you'll find some negative as well.

I dont have a Monster clutch but i would if it were not for the attention to detail of Steve and the rest of the crew at Monster Clutch....AKA SNL Performance.

SNL has done almost all the work on my car to date and they are now tearing into my car removing the broken LS3 and installing the HKE LSX427. Completely replacing the fuel system also,as well as a custom oil cooler setup.

Anyway, long story short, i was supposed to have the new Monster Twin disc installed when we did my GForce 9" rear a while ago. We were very close but Steve was not quite satisfied with the machining on the flywheels and did not want to let me have one unless it was dead solid perfect! They even installed my McLeod RXT for me.

Every time i go down there their shop is littered with vettes, GTOs, Challengers, and a couple camaros now and then getting Monsters installed. Most of the customers i talked to were going with the Monster singles. They had nothing but great things to say about them. I know these guys know how to install their clutches and maybe that part of the problem for some?

I have seen the new Monster Twins and Triples and all I can say is WOW These things are a work of art. All the research and development that went into them are evident, nice work Monster!!!!

When my RXT "gives up the ghost" a Monster will most likely be in its place.

I met Erik from HKE racing engines, actually he IS HKE racing engines. He delivered my motor to SNL Performance/Monster Clutch Co. He mentioned to me later in a phone call that he looked closely at a couple of their clutches laying around the shop getting ready for shipment. Needless to say he was pretty impressed by what he saw! They are are work of art!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

If anyone has any questions about our clutches just give us a shout. Obviously nobody knows them better than us and we're running a holiday sale right now as well!

Thanks for everyone's input! I hate to buy things twice, and really value this forum for helping me with real world experience of items I am looking at to purchase. Thanks again.

I've talked to the guys at Monster and although they said to send it back, but I've not had the time to get it pulled apart, and mine was well over a year old, but they were still glad to help! I can say they've been very helpful and didn't give me any grief about sending it back. I do own a speed shop and do this kind of stuff every day, and he hasn't told me anything about improper install or break in? This was the first Monster I've done in a 5th gen Camaro, but the other LS swap cars we've built (mainly C3 vettes) have all had Monsters with no issues. I just can't get this one figured out for some reason, and have tried a number of things to fix it. Yes, beating on it does make it quiet and smooth, but that doesn't do me any good either.
Once the snow flies my car is coming apart for more upgrades anyway, and although Monster has been good to us for a number of cars, I might have to go with the Mantic for this one.
Mine was just like this it was garbage.. when I pulled it out it was completely destroyed..Could've probably sent it back, was only in the car 6 months but why would I want them to fix one sent it to me again and the same thing happen and I be out another huge load of cash trying to find another clutch and pay for ANOTHER install. Not to mention monster blamed everyone but their pressure plate for the hydraulic issues I had. When I put the street slayer twin in I had ZERO hydraulic problems, probably due to the fact that it was actually designed for this car and doesn't have near the pedal pressure that the monster does. SUPER CHATTER, SUPER SQUEAL and SHUDDERED so bad you could feel it in the dash. Not to mention it didn't hold the power like I needed. In with the street slayer and couldn't be happier.. not to mention its 1/2 the pedal resistance as the monster too and it actually grabs. This clutch was the laughing joke around the dealership when we pulled it out. It was fried, metal on metal with only 3600 miles on it.

You can research us and plainly see you're an exception to our norm - I appreciate the feedback though.

That is how CONFIDENT I am in these units.

The guys complaining either A) Slipped the hell out of them without proper break in or B) Did not have them installed correctly...

Otherwise they plain and simple work.

Don't believe me? When I cut a low 10/high 9 second pass with my 2007 Z06 which is outfitted with a Level 3 Monster, I will post the video. Also have a LEVE 5 in my caged racecar...it's more of an on off switch..but it HOLDS!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

That was in a Z06 not a 5th Gen!

There must be a whole lot of us out here who had shops perform the installs that had no idea what they were doing, I'm sure they would disagree with you on that, and a bunch of us who never have driven a manual before. The problem with your offer is the buyer is still on the hook for the multiple install labor charges, and the vehicle down time.

It's really up to the buyers in this forum, who do you trust owners giving you direct feedback based on their experiences with the product, or the product representative / salesman?

I will tell you my clutch was broken in correctly, Monster's response was to go beat the piss out of it and hope it got better, well it didn't.

Not a whole lot of you, as a matter of fact it's a handful of you that has had issues. I'd put the handful of customers that have had issues with the Gen 5 Camaro installs to the thousands of happy customers we have.

I understand you were not happy with your Monster, but, you're situation isn't the norm - if it was we wouldn't be in business.

Anyone on the fence on Monster I'll make you a deal - you buy any clutch I manufacture and I guarantee you that if you're not happy with it I'll buy it back from you.

If anyone has any questions just let me know.
