I only take my car to shell. I've had no problems with it.

As if ethanol is going to clean the air

The fuel stop on our Lake Geneva cruise has real gas and is about 80 miles from the Chicago Loop.

so at the end of the day does top tier premium gas for an ss give you better mileage or not....is it worth spending the extra money, where I live it would cost around $4 more every time I fill up my tank gulf vs shell

MPG is not the reason to use Top Tier gas. It's more of a guaranteed quality issue. You know that the gas meets certain standards, where as with non-Top Tier gas, the gas might be good but the standards may be different form dealer to dealer.

If you have a trusted reliable station that is not Top Tier, you should be okay. But when travelling you really should seek out Top Tier gas. I keep a list of Top Tier retailers on my phone so I don't need to guess.

Are you from the middle east? Don't you know ethanol is around 105 octane? Just runs a little leaner.

Gas provided by ConocoPhillips meets/exceeds TopTier requirements. TopTierGas.com lists both Conoco and Phillips 66 stations as compliant. In fact, I see a lot of signs on my local Phillips 66 that say they go a little bit beyond the TopTier requirements, but I'm sure that's just a marketing tactic.

This has been discussed before. Gas is gas today. All the additives and cleaners that some companies advertise is standard in all gas today.
Gas quality is really dependant on location (U.S. state standards) and time of year.

I try to avoid Citgo, it is owned by a petrol company in Venezuela, state-owned refinery by none other than Chavez.

I have to believe there must be some difference.
Gas is Gas coming out of the pipeline. Just different additive packages for different brands. Around here you have 91 or 93 with ethanol. For the life of me I don't know why so many people hate ethanol. Want to go back to MTBE? Heck, a high percent of people on the internet tonite are drinking some sort of ethanol. So many misconceptions and propaganda!

How does gas make it to "top Tier"" level? I always thought it was just a saying from Kwik Trip. Love the station they have lots of good stuff at great prices
