This is great stuff here!

The 4cyl turbo could definitely make it.

The 3.6L LLT (thanks Mythic) I read Lutz saying the 300hp Caddy version would definitely be there, but detuned to 260hp. He even quoted 17mpg city, and 25 hwy I believe.

I hope you guys are right, that the supercharged motor will be the high-buck, limited SS engine.

Maybe GM is figuring a way to make AFM work with manual trans, but none available yet.

I'm with Dragoneye about pricing. I want a 400hp plus V8 manual at a good price. Pontiac has intimated the G8 GXP will be "Just under $40,000".

I don't want to pay that much, but insist on 400hp and manual trans.

Oh, and apologies to the Veterans here who have been over and over this.

Thank you all!

Maybe if we all concentrate hard enough, we can change reality and we will get a LS7 or equivilent.

I don't know. I love the feel of that Manual shifter in my hands. I don't know if i could get used to paddle shifters... Plus in order to have a paddle shifter you can't have a true manual can you? it has to be a manumatic right?

Nothing like that in year 1 (2009)...maybe year 2! (2010) but best chance in year 3 (2011)...mark my words!

You never want to first out of the gate with your Top Dog...GM will wait to see what the unmentionables will do...and then come out and top them all...could we see a special edition LS9 (detuned 575HP) in year 3....who knows!

That's when Im buying!

the LS376 480/475 is an EFI block with a hot cam swap
the LS376 515/469 is a carborated block the the hot cam and an intake swap.

thats why we are all praying to get it in the Camaro

there will NOT be a paddle shifter... and we are looking at 2 MAINSTREAM v8 options and one limited option... AFM will not work with Manual transmission... AFM will come on LS3 automatics
the V6 will be over 280 horsepower
the turbo four is a possibility

I think they'll throw the turbo 4 in with its 260 hp
then have the V6 and have it with 302
and then the something with around 375 (L76?)
and probably a 450 hp top dog maybe the super sport

I think we're all getting a little numb to these numbers, 375 was as good as it got for a camaro, with a 396 big block (unless you wanted to pay for the 427)
making that with a small block with this kind of fuel economy=amazing to me

IIRC, for paddle shifters in GM cars, its still an automatic, but the paddles tell the computer, which tells the automatic to shift...

Now in something like a Lamborghini, I think it is actually a full blown automated manual...

hope I'm makin sense

The numbers from those day were way inflated compared to the numbers these days. That's one of the reasons why the horsepower numbers dropped so fast in the early 70s (yes, I know that compression was lowered too) however, the dyno' testing was quite different back then. Comparing numbers from then to now is apples to oranges. Newer cars run much better than before.

375 horsepower is great none-the-less nowadays, I just happen to think with Cobras from not long ago and Cobras as of late, the number has to be 450+.
