Yep, I could have done that but the project required that we use a stock LS9. There is definitely a much easier and less expensive way to get to 640hp but this particular project must be done with the stock LS9.
The dry sump was also a big plus to the project... The LS3 is actually an LS376/480 and is going into a 69 El Camino. Both cars will be extremely fun to drive!!!!! When we are done we could actually drive into a Chevy dealership for warranty work. I would never do that but we could. Could you imagine the conversation convincing the service manager that my 73 Pantera is under warranty? Take care |

Well if u have to use a complete ls9 why do u have to change anything? Why not just run it like it is? I see no reason to switch it around. Just use the current setup and fabricate whatever you need for intake pipes and things like that. I know it's a mid engine car so there are constraints on room but really this isn't a whole lot taller than a carb and airfilter combo from a 351. Plus the 351 had a big ass oil pan. And it was basically a truck motor in a car. I would fabricate some new body panels before I would mess with trying to turn around a supercharger. ESP in the casing u get with the ls9 it's not exactly user friendly to change things around.

What if you ran the intake straight down, and a scoop to the filter?

ill ask this again, can you explain WHY you need to flip the blower the other way around? Maybe we could suggest OTHER solutions to your problem because at the moment we can only guess that you're trying to make things more difficult than they really are

I dont see why youd have to reverse the blower. Do some welding on the upper and make a new intake path. Keep it simple

There is a structural rail right under the rear window. The intake is going to be right up against it, if not through it. This is why flipping the intake was one option. I flipped the intake on the LS3 and that made install very easy. Of course, the LS9 isn't easy to be flipped but I do believe it is possible. Having said that, I am now re-thinking the flipping option. I could move the structural rail without that much trouble and Fab a cool air intake. I need to Fab one anyway. A roll bar is also going in so I could use it to integrate some structural support for the changes I would need to make. This is why I wanted to see if anyone had experience with fabricating a jackshaft system. Since if the part were available, I could consider that option. Thanks for the feedback!

Maybe you could convince them on a twin turbo setup. That might actually be easier! lol
