Say what?

Does it have a check valve built into it?

I'm assuming the dual valves and anything by RX has a check valve

Maybe try the catch can setup without the breather and see if that helps.

Did you try any solutions from this thread:

Rx breather cap "breathing" oil

When you assume....you know the rest!

So check it out. If it doesn't, there's your sign.

PCV purely by it's name means Positive Crankcase Ventilation which vents positive pressure and closes to prevent the drawing of air into the crankcase. This creates a vacuum, albeit a small one. This is critical for several reasons.

The crankcase must maintain a vacuum. An opening to the atmosphere will allow anything from 0 to positive pressure. At which point, leaks can develop from anywhere.

A good mechanic these days will check the PCV system first whenever an oil leak is encountered.

Matt is correct. And if the valve is left open (as speedy correctly states) then the PCV system is rendered inoperative. The damaging combustion byproducts have to be evacuated while still in a suspended state, so filtered fresh air is drawn in from one bank, through the crankcase (by the IM vacuum) through the crankcase and out the opposite flushing, or evacuating these harmfull compounds. If the valve is mistakingly left open then no oil accumulates, and no PCV (positive crankcase evacuation) takes place as the system is broken.

Here are some pictures to follow with Matts explanation.....and this is with most catchcans that use a standard pet**** for a drain:

Threads extended out is closed as it pulls the drain seal into the seat:

Threads retracted into the can is open, as it raises the dran seal off the seat allowing liguid to drain past and out:

Also, the center of the RX can (on all models) is the inlet and is always connected to the crankcase outlet (valley cover or the valve cover barb that stock has a line from it to the intake manifold vac barb) and the outer checkvalves (single or dual) are always the outlet(s) leading to the vacuum source. If connected backwards that also defeats the PCV flow as the flow is only traveling away from the can preventing backflow during WOT.

I was asking if the breather had a check valve. Not the valve on the bottom of the can.

Unless requested otherwise, the RX breathers come with a check valve calibrated for V6 or V8 applications.

I'll let Tracy take it from here

I don't know if this helps but I've been looking daily for any oil leaks and I have yet to find anything at all. However the breather still gets a teaspoon or 2 in it

I took another look under the hood and it looks like the Rear Passenger side leaks oil and the driver side that's capped off leaks a little oil. Also the can hasn't caught anything at all

Check the breather to see if the check valve is malfunctioning

As I mentioned earlier, check the breather to see if the check valve is functioning. It's the only explanation for the oil getting into the breather as it should only allow air into the valve cover and not out.

Understand?

It is either not working or is not there at all.

My RX breather seems to have a lot of oil in it also.

I would do the drill mod. Remove the connection to the passenger side valve cover, use a plyers or vicegrips and twist and pull it up and out and drill the top and bottom small holes to 7/64" and then you wont have the pressure building up.

Let me know if you need more details.
