you do realize a blower makes a better DD over a cam right ? in terms of Drivability and even reliability at times.

but cam is cheaper thats why you see more people doing it.

Actually I see more people blow there dd's before cam. And the drivability is largely based on the tune..

I am about to do some HP mods on my L99 and wondering what type of gains would be looking at doing the same mods you are suggesting along with Cam. Why would it be better to supercharge than getting Cam on a DD?? Don't mean to hijack just wondering same info but on Automatic side of the coin. Good info so far. I am still on the fence whats better to do Supercharge or just get a good tune with headers and better CAI. Several people keep telling me if gain HP I also should be looking into suspension mods.
My goal is to gain some respectable power.

My plan is a cold air intake, port the throttle body and long tubes with an off road x pipe. Then at some point get a custom grind on the cams.

So the question is what kind of rwhp will I gain from the CAI, ported TB, longtubes with x pipe and a tune?

Or is this the wrong direction? Thanks in advance
The L99 average is about 370 rwhp with the three basic mods.

Doing an l99 cam is way more involved than on the ls3. Do get decent results with a cam you'll need to remove the afm lifters which requires removing the heads. From that point it's up to you to go ahead and do a full ls3 conversion or keep the VVT.

To be honest I am not sure what RWHP I have now on my L99 with K&N CAI only. Just would like to feel more power and kick in the pants. Not sure if a Tune, Headers and better CAI would get me there. I have looked into the ZL1 conversion route and dealer stating about 100-150 HP gains. That would be doing full mod. I have 16,000 on car so would most likely do heads and Cam conversion to help with performance and gain more reliable parts. Total Conversion cost would be somewhere around 13000-14000. Several members have then warned with more power comes a concern with Wheel Hop and as stated Suspension would be next. I plan to always keep car so want to do it right the first time and not keep wanting more.

It would be nice to ride in two cars one with CAI, headers and tune and then one with Supercharger just to feel the difference.

So far I am very impressed with the car and I do love the body style. The car came with a hurst short throw shifter and an upgraded exhaust- the mufflers have 2 tail pipes each it kinda looks like a vette exhaust. It also had the GM heritage grill which I took off and put the original back on- if anybody wants it I will give it away, it was on the car for a week- no blemishes,
Your car came stock with 3.42 gears, I'd go lower than 3.91. Around 4.10. It's a small difference in cruising RPM so get the most out of it
