whats the darkest you can legaly tint windows in nj anybody know?

You're not allowed to add any tint to the front side windows in NJ.

This is 100% correct. But how strictly this is enforced will depend a lot on where you live. Some of the more rural townships in central or southern NJ love to pull over guys with tints. Even a very light tint (35/45%) will not fly in some of these towns. But in northern and more urban NJ, I see more cars riding around with front tints. This may have changed since I was younger though.

What percentage is it that the windows come tinted from the factory?

You can legaly tint your windows with a Eye Doctors script.
So I have been told. But you need a real Eye condition.

You can legally tint the rear windows as dark as you want, but NO tint on the front door windows. You can also do a tint strip on the windshield, but can not come down too far. I have my front windows tinted and love it, some cops are worse then others about that.
